Re: Moving to Sydenham
Ignoring the photo, this recent Guardian article give a nice review on the area: http://www.theguardian.com/money/2015/sep/25/lets-move-to-sydenham-south-east-london But there are many other things to look forward to: - a good community - lovely parks - a useful high street - excellent transport lin...

Re: Guardian's Let's Move To... feature
This is getting spicy! I wonder if "Zimmer fights" will be included in the Guardian feature? Sydenham is still very "real". Many places that suddenly get "gentrified" attract all sorts of t***s and the area loses its character and community feel. Living in ED for a numb...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
What would it take to move Sydenham into either Southwark or Bromley?
Our general experience with Lewisham council has been diabolical at best. Surely there is a way out of this borough?

Re: Open-air theatre at Mayow Park bowling green - survey
I am very much supportive of this being an annual event across the summer months, as it would be a great addition to the park and the local area. I live close to the park, and there may be some locals that may have an issue with the noise; so maybe an earlier evening start? Otherwise, its a fantasti...

Re: Sushi of Sydenham
My wife and I visited Sushi of Sydenham last night, and it was really good (and we love our sushi). We had a mix of cooked and raw options, and all were faultless. The service was great as well, which was good as they were pretty busy from 7:30pm. Will definitely be going back, and I encourage fello...

Re: Thinking of buying - need some advice on the area
My wife and I have lived in Sydenham with our daughter for a year. We used to live in East Dulwich, and knew Sydenham quite well given my wife has a flat in the area. We were attracted to Sydenham based on the amount of parks, great transport links and better value properties. We love living in Syde...

Such senseless damage to a small local business. http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/lewisham/13476537.Miniature_Sydenham_brasserie_has_windows_shot_out_by_vandals/ There is a crowdfunding page set up to help improve security for the van: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/la-petite-bouche Lets get behind Anita-Cl...

Re: Lewisham Planning
Thanks loigal; I have heard similar bad stories. Its like there is no-one at home. Its impacting the local economy, as its slowing down business development as well. I have already contacted my local councillor. Also no response. I wonder what would happen if we started building before we got Planni...

Re: Lewisham Planning
The timeframe you refer to is 8 weeks from validation. Validation is meant to occur within the first two weeks of planning submission.
We haven't made it to validation after 2 months +.
And no response from Lewisham Council in terms of calls/messages or email.

I gathered that, but I am looking to hear from anyone with experience or knowledge of the situation. How long is it taking, and should we expect the backlog to clear?

Lewisham Planning
Good evening, We recently submitted plans to Lewisham Council for some renovations to our property. Its been more than 2 months, and the application has not even got to the validation stage. I am told there is currently a huge backlog at Lewisham for planning, which might explain the difficulties fo...

The great WG Grace is my favourite hero. Infamously, Rolf Harris was also a former resident of Sydenham.

I assume the high street is now open: TFL are saying local buses are back on their normal routes.

I just noticed that the Horniman Museum and Gardens are ranked in the top 10 most Instagrammed locations in London (with London itself being the top ranked city): http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/europe/uk/11608140/Instagram-London-the-citys-most-popular-spots.html Its not quite Sydenh...

Re: Mayow park gym trail
Mayow Park is looking amazing! The park is a pretty sight when empty around sunrise, and is such a happy environment during the day when full of families! Its great to have so many putting in to keep the park in such great shape! Hopefully the reduction in Park Ranger coverage has no material impact...

Fire on Mayow Road
There seems to be a lot of smoke coming from the vicinity of Mayow Road bordering the Thorpes.
It seems like a house fire; a lot of sirens with congested traffic around the area.
