Re: Dangerous e-scooters in Sydenham
One of the main dangers in Sydenham is the amount of traffic. If people could give up their cars for escooters, that would be a fantastic positive for the area. If they could be used for commuting into central london in these covid days, that would be a plus and no parking issues either. People cycl...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
They should double the council tax for those who now find themselves living on a quiet clean private cul-de-sac and halve the tax for those that have to put up with even more noise and pollution. Perry Vale is just as residential as Silverdale and has a primary school. It was no more designed to tak...

Re: Seb Dance, MEP, in Forest Hill
It is nice to see a MEP locally as they are usually totally invisible . I'm sure the decisions they help to make are very important, but they needed to be making the case that we belong in the EU. They need to be telling us what they do and how this directly affects us day to day, rather than just w...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2
Why keep? Well it seems quite a few people like them. They are a land mark and some find them attractive. Over £20m was spent on that twisty iron statue/monstrosity outside the Olympic stadium, and the designers thought it had merit. Compared to that, the holders are absolutely beautiful. Historical...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2
Micheal from FOHSoc has notified us on SE23.life that the planning application for demolition is not what it seems. It is a "Prior notification of the demolition of the two existing gasholders and ancillary buildings at Bell Green SE26." and as such notifications do not require a decision...

Re: What *are* they doing to Dartmouth Road?
It's ironic that Lewisham council are making so many cut backs, e.g on rubbish collection, yet all this money is being 'wasted' on Dartmouth Rd. Could not agree more. There is a good case for widening the pavement opposite Sydenham Pk Rd - it is near single file along there and it is right next to ...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
I wouldn't have thought any of the land on the site of the old gasworks will be fit for normal residential use for thousands of years. The petition calls for the gasholders to be listed and the land around the them to be turned into residential units instead of retail space.

Re: Ellie Reeves MP breaks promise
Sadly, on last night's vote she went along with her leader's hard Brexit, refusing to do what she said she'd do in her election material. Why didn't she support the approach of Chuka Ummuna and 50 odd colleagues? Clearly she can't be trusted. Very sadly we may have found out the reason that Ellie R...

Re: Ellie Reeves MP breaks promise
What is aggravating is that after banging on about the single market her whole campaign she doesn't feel we are owed an explanation why she would not actually vote for it. There could be genuine reasons - after all the 2 main parties had manifestos to leave the EU, and perhaps it was thought a bit t...

Re: What has Jim done
At the risk of coming across as someone who talks to themselves on the bus, my early thoughts were backed up today by a curious call on behalf of Labour asking me how I would vote. What's in your manifesto? - It hasn't been published, but it will soon. OK - What is your position on Brexit? - Slightl...

Re: What has Jim done
Like it or not, a key issue of the election is going to be how hard we want our Brexit and we knew Jim was in favour of remaining in the EU to the point of disregarding his own party's leadership. Lewisham was massively in favour of remaining and despite the campaigning having started, I've not a cl...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
It is not that the gas towers are ugly - that could be quite interesting. But when empty as now, they make less impression than a mirror glass fronted office block, as all you see is sky and a thin light blue frame. That is probably by design. Unless of course people want to preserve the oil smeared...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
People visiting the business park won't visit the high street too. They are too disconnected. Most people drive to the business park and if you watch people, they tend to drive from the part to Sainsbury's and even to Sports direct. There aren't many people on foot. It's a similar thing in the USA....

I recently got my 3020A and KEF coda IIIs out of retirement and connected them to my PC for those times I want a break from the head phones.
The whump you get when it is powered on is very very satisfying, but for the low volume levels I listen at, they are a bit of an over indulgence really.

I've got this:Aunque no tengas nada, tienes la vida, dónde lo hay todo.
"In areas with no (speed) limits, take those lives, where you still can."
I think it is nice that we hear all viewpoints in our community, even if we might not at first totally agree with them.

Re: Lewisham wide 20mph roads
In theory 45% over the limit risks an instant ban ie 51 mph in a 30 mph zone. So 29mph in a 20mph zone - ie sort of pretending the 30mph limit still applies, should eventually be treated as firmly. However enforcing this will be tricky as drivers will not accept speed cameras - probably because they...
