Re: Bakerloo Line Extension
You wont lose the Hayes line. The tube will run on the same tracks (making the extension easier than other options), and be more frequent. I am unsure where it would be diverted? The Hayes line is already at full capacity so adding some Bakerloo trains means losing some of the current services. The...

Dacres Road / Silverdale Urban Renewal Plan
I've been wondering recently whether our local civic societies have any plans here
This is a derelict relic of a largely outdated technology. Can we plan to get rid of it, before it becomes an icon?

Re: Current state of the property market in Sydenham
Not sure if helpful to anyone here but seeing this I thought was quite timely so thought would chuck it on here. Make of the article what you will but SE26 is reportedly one of the area’s “bucking the trend” and is still “hot” in comparison to the vast majority of London (although not mentioned in ...

Re: Current state of the property market in Sydenham
I put my house on the market. The estate agent was so careless they damaged my prospects of a sale. They are an estate agent well known in Sydenham which claims a level of success I cannot substantiate. My four bedroom above average sized Victorian semi was described, by them, as a three bedroom te...

Re: Stu's Supposition
The longer any conservation (offline and well as online) in this country continues the probability of involving Brexit approaches 1. In fairness this is true for any subject. By definition an infinite conversation will cover all topics, so the longer the conversation, the more likely kangaroos will...

For reasons which had absolutely nothing to do with thinking of selling, I just looked at a chart from Streetcheck.co.uk for a post code in SE26

Re: Current state of the property market in Sydenham
Brexit will be a massive success for young working people if it causes a correction in house prices and makes London affordable for them. Who do you think will be the most likely to go into negative equity: a) Young homeowners b) Middle-aged homeowners c) Old (mostly mortgage free) homeowners Stuar...

Re: Current state of the property market in Sydenham
Before this gets shunted into the Town Pub, I'll just say I think SE London is better value than other parts, but that won't be much consolation.

Re: Current state of the property market in Sydenham
Brexit is not an issue. Project fear is the problem. The disgraceful misconduct of the political appointee at the Bank of England is a large component of project fear. Note well how his (far more experienced and significantly better qualified) predecessor disagrees with everything this Irish Canadi...

Re: Current state of the property market in Sydenham
In the short term, the rent / buy decision is pretty well all about Brexit. There are those who insist a No Deal will be just fine, but it's probably not prudent to do so. The downside, which would come from London being a much less attractive place to live is huge. I don't think it's anything like ...

That's horse manure, Robin, and it doesn't stay in the green bin - just a useful way of moving it to my own front garden

A more useful squats workout
There's a thing about doing a squat workout to this track
the idea that you go down when you hear 'sally down', and hold it until you hear 'sally up'. Bit of a killer.

Signage for volunteer initiatives
I had one of those turns walking into Forest Hill this morning, from which emerged a blog about how volunteer initiatives to make our area look nicer could be supported Signage for volunteer initiatives Happy to have comments here, or here on Twitter https://twitter.com/TimLundSE26/status/1078672474...

Re: Petition to Support the Redevelopment of All Inn One
Striking how the Sydenham Society has swung behind the campaign against this development in, er, Forest Hill. On what basis do you say the Sydenham Society has taken a position on this? There was an advert asking people to write in to oppose it in this week's email newsletter. My bad for missing th...
