Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey

Thanks again biscuitman1978.
I now very much look forward to Purelake's conditions being fully discharged!

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey

thanks biscuitman1978. What we all want is for Purelake to discharge their responsibilities and complete the duties originally imposed. I think I am right in thinking 'discharging the conditions' means quite the reverse and the building conditions Purelake want discharged are the ones they no longer...

Re: B&Q

I thought I'd have a quick walk around B&Q on the weekend since I was going to the savacentre anyway.
Luckily they gave me a flavour of what was inside by belting out the most nauseating music from 6 foot speakers outside the door, so I fled.

Bring back the gas works!

Re: Sydenham Station Pedestrian Crossing

Oh dear. Back to normal.
The timings on both crossing lights are now so set in favour of traffic they are actually less safe than the old zebra, as pedestrians just assume they are broken, and make their own way across.
What a waste of money.

Re: Borough wide 20 mph limit planned - allegedly

In which roads do the majority of accidents happen, (where a reduction in speed could significantly reduce the resultant injuries and destruction)? I'm guessing the speed of traffic on the residential roads is not the main problem. I'm pretty certain Cllr Paschoud of Perry Vale Ward has no intention...

Re: Sydenham Station Pedestrian Crossing

Good news.
I have to admit that the pelican crossing on the other side of the bridge is quick to respond
and has made crossing the road easier if you are heading that way. There, I said it.
Some cars do not stop, but those drivers did not stop at the zebra in the first place.

Re: Cobbs Corner Roundabout and other related issues!

Thanks Rachael. I think all zebra crossing were dangerous at night, and why they have got phased out. It is a shame as they can work well during the day. And they are attractive features. I'll be amazed if they replace the zebra with 2 pelican style crossings, especially as they consider it fine to ...

Re: Cobbs Corner Roundabout and other related issues!

Is this the right thread to ask what has happened to the zebra crossing at Sydenham station? The LED beacons have gone and high concrete kerbs installed so It is not coming back anytime soon. It is true that drivers were often too preoccupied with their busy lives and mobiles to stop for those cross...

Re: 20mph zone proposed for 'Thorpes' area of Sydenham

When a complete urban 20mph restriction is brought in, these 20mph signs will become as redundant as the no smoking signs that were plastered everywhere a few years back. The sooner it happens the better. And like most laws, people can chose to ignore them, but when they are caught, perhaps by being...

Urgent care centre = minor injury centre or walk-in centre. http://www.nhs.uk/servicedirectories/Pages/ServiceSearch.aspx?ServiceType=WalkInCentre Walk-in centres in my experience are run by nurses, which is fine, but they cannot for instances prescribe anti-biotics. So they cannot in fact treat rel...

Re: The Greyhound

The front right hand window has a massive (inches) crack through the lintel. The crack goes up the brickwork and through the 1st floor window structure too. For a wall that currently is bearing no load, this seems a worrying development. In digging out the basement, they may have accidentally (?) da...

Re: ,street lighting

My understanding is each lamppost can be controlled remotely. The eventual aim must be to turn the lights off in the dead of night in some random order. I have mixed feelings on this. It seems very wasteful for many residential streets to be fully lit through every night for very few pedestrians. It...

Re: Another stabbing in Sydenham

Some people have their aggression levels turned right up.
And they should be isolated from society until they slow down a lot.

They are not mad but are just designed that way - a medieval warrior class
that had their use once, but do not fit in a relatively peaceful urban environment.

Does anyone know where the money for this project is coming from? Hopefully everyone has learnt their lesson on PFI, given how how wasteful it is - eg see South London Healthcare Trust facing insolvency this month. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-18584968 Would be nice to think they will use a norm...

Re: Forest Hill Elisnore Road Incident Meeting

Thanks Michael, The bit about the tazers is quite interesting, but not very good value for a 2 hour meeting. The way to reassure the public is to have this fully investigated as soon as possible. This is in everyone's interest. They should square off the officers reports against the witness statemen...

If anybody was bothered about the facts of this case....
I'm very concerned about this, but was not at the meeting.
Can you michael (or anyone else) tell us what was revealed to reassure the community?

There is much to explain in my opinion.
