255-269 Sydenham Road to be demolished

.... apparently starting on Monday, for 14 flats and 3 houses to be built.

just got a letter through my door

What happened in the end with parking provision? Did the original plans (to include no parking at all) get approved?

Controversially, I'm not sure whether the original facade is of sufficient aesthetic value to justify retaining it - it's not particularly attractive, is it?

I agree, Juliet, I think it is horrible looking. Just because it's old doesn't mean it is aesthetically pleasing. IMHO.
Must have a look at the new plans though.

I agree with Rod, the original, if in it's original form was and could be an attractive building.

In my opinion it would have been nice to do something with the old building but their not going to. It's going to be knocked down and something new built in its place. Some of us will have to endure the building work, we hope it won't be to disruptive.

At the end of the day for whatever reason we'll have a new block of flats, housing people, which is important. It will also keep people in work, which again is a good thing. And hopefully the development will look nice too. To be honest, walking past anything other than what is there now will be better.
