Anyone any ideas why a police helicopter and at least 7 police officers on foot (and one on a pedal bike) were looking in bushes at the weekend?
A bit of early easter egg hunting perhaps?
POLICE IN MAYOW PARK
A burglar who had already broken into two Bishopsthorpe's houses backing onto Mayow Park was spotted trying to break into a third house and the police helicopter was called.
Unfortunately, the burglar got away. He is a white male aged about 20 and 5'10" tall wearing a green and white striped jumper and blue jeans.

Not sure why although when I walked up Bishopsthorpe on Sunday early afternoon there were 2 police cars and a van so I would have thought they were possibly looking for more than one bad egg.
There was an officer up on the scaffolding outside one of the houses at the Mayow Road end and those houses back onto the park so maybe someone was seen trying to break in?
I've always wanted to live on Bishopsthorpe but it seems the residents at that end are having a hard time of it at the moment. I am sure there was another car with a smashed window there this morning when I drove past.

I'm sure I heard once that most burglaries occur between 3pm and 4pm in the afternoon. That's what time we were burgled some years ago.
I have my downstairs lamps on a timer to come on at 3pm, front and back, whatever time of year. Most burglars are opportunists and if there's a hint of anyone being at home it can put them off.

a) They have just got up themselves - trying not to be too flippant.
b) it's when they know a lot of people have gone to collect children from school and have probably forgotten to shut all the windows.
I usually leave a radio on quite loud because #apparently# the first thing they do is listen at a window. Many a burglar has been caught by his/her/its earprint. I leave Radio 2 on, there is quite a lot of speaking so it might be enough to make someone think there are people talking in the house.
