New Crystal Palace non-news

Post by admin »

The plan was the architect would be selected last summer and the plans should be going in around now. However, nothing has been heard officially since spring. Rumours have it that the original plan has been dumped and ZRG is secretly negotiating with Bromley for a bigger chunk of our park.

We still don't know what they plan to do with it. Last night BBC London News ran a non-news story. Make of it what you will. The item starts at 2:55: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... s-23112014

Plus Boris wants to give another chunk of the NSC & park over to the Crystal Palace Free School.

I really don't have a good feeling about the proposed development plans, there's too much being kept under wraps whilst deals are being thrashed out.

The organisers of Crystal Palace Parkrun were asking runners to post concerns over the development to the public consultation in the summer, as a proposed access road to the new development would cut through the current 5k looped course they use. This is the only course they are allowed in the park, so the free event to encourage people to do 5k on Saturday mornings would be finished there, if plans go ahead in there current form.

This is a big public sell off into private hands, coming soon!

Well not the biggest surprise to add to the news about Crystal Palace Park, but the website 'Inside Croydon' put up an article linking the proposed Crystal Palace Stadium removal plans to requirements by ZhongRong Group and involvement with one of Sebastian Coe’s companies.
City Hall documents confirm Palace park schemes are linked

Attempts by one of Sebastian Coe’s companies to distance themselves from any relationship with China’s ZhongRong Group appear to be in vain after the Greater London Authority published its consultants’ brief and an interim report which demonstrate that any scheme for the National Sports Centre at Crystal Palace should “ideally complement” the £500 million glass palace which the Chinese developers have proposed to build in the south London park.

Hmm, Bromley, Croydon, ... I must say, having 3 (is it only 3?) boroughs adjoining the park must really help with the "divide and rule" policy. Coordinating getting info out to all the people liable to be affected must really take some doing, given the number of bodies it must be split between.
