Building work has, at last, started on the former site of Sydenham Station with the construction of a five storey building with basement to provide a public house at ground and basement levels, together with 7 one bedroom self-contained flats with balconies. The relevant planning documents can be found here:
The public house is more likely to be a wine bar. You can read Pat Tembath’s post and subsequent comments here: http://sydenham.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10468
A short history
The site used to be part of Sydenham Station. This photograph is from Steve Grindlay’s magnificent history of Sydenham.
It then became the temporary home of a dry cleaners and unisex hair salon. They moved out many years ago and the site was left to rack and ruin (from Google Streetview).
Eventually in early 2013 it was demolished.
Now work has started (photo taken 10th December 2013)
