Re: where are our closest bluebell woods??

I went to Beckenham Place Park on Sunday, and yes the bluebells are on their last legs. But there are plenty of English ones, not Spanish ones. I was going to add a photo, but don't know how to.

Re: Sydenham Post Office to close

It always used to annoy me that they had 2 self service machines, but on the few occasions I went in, neither were in operation. I was told they need a member of staff to monitor them, and didn't have any spare staff. Seems pointless having the machines.

Re: Supreme Fish Bar

I haven't been here recently so haven't tried the suspect fish. But I wonder if they are serving panga / pangasius fish, which is a cheap white fish often used instead of cod. If you Google it, you'll see it's got lots of bad mentions!!!

Accident in Forest Hill

Not Sydenham related, but I'm just curious. Does anyone know what happened in Forest Hill this afternoon, around 3pm......... there was a black Audi car that had gone into the railings outside the old Barclays bank, just down from Costa coffee. That strange thing is the car was facing downhill, i.e....

Re: Worst local transport journeys?

I have a love/hate relationship with the 176, love it cos it goes to the centre of town, hate it that it takes forever. The overground from Forest Hill to Canada Water and vice versa during rush hour. The fact that Sydenham station is quite far from bus stops, so it is easier to go to Forest Hill by...

Sydenham Post Office to close

Looks like we are losing our Post Office. Such a shame as it is the last real PO in the area.

Re: Sainsbury's Bell Green

I've given up with the cafe, as you have to wait so long for the food, even when they are not busy. It's a shame as I used to eat there regularly. And I definitely agree that the stocks of fruit and veg are really low in the late afternoon. I've not seen rodents in the store, though I have seen them...

Not fatal, but possibly "life changing". The bike was in pieces apparently and can be seen in this report

Re: Can you recycle ... ???

Ah, I didn't notice the bit about 'wet' cardboard.

Then how do we keep the cardboard dry after 2 days of rain on Sat and Sun,and no lid on the large communal bin?

Interesting that cardboard can't be recycled. Maybe that explains why a load has been dumped in Kent House Rd this week!

There should be star crossings at all junctions where there are crossroads. They need one at Penge main junction.
