there are a number of charity shops on the high street, from scope to cancer research, so you can choose the charity of your choice (they are normally happy to accept all clothes, if they are in a decent state). if you want your clothing donation to be of more local benefit, there is the st christop...

i would say that is a very positive move.

i will do my best to attend, although as my wife is due to give birth, on or around that date, it may not prove possible.

i think megan is right, if it is ever going to happen, it will happen when the east london line comes, and probably not before, unless something miraculous happens with the greyhound. they could do worse than take a look at the east dulwich tavern, a pretty plain pub, yet with a decent atmosphere. y...

just this weekend i picked up a leaflet at belair house, for a place called shepherd's london, which is on marmora road, in between peckham rye and forest hill. it looks like a really good, family run place. they have their own website, which is www.shepherdslondon.co.uk if you wait for a few weeks ...

pubs, unfortunately are not too good in sydenham, but much better in forest hill - bricklayers arms is okay for a local, and the dartmouth arms and question are better still. for a curry, the gurkha is good on the high street, as are the takeaways (for both curries and chinese, we've tried most of t...

'most comedians like a drink' ? a sweeping generalisation, if i ever heard one.

i have no wish to turn this thread into a slanging match, but i hope you are not accusing me of being middle class ? i do not consider myself so, and have no aspirations to be so.

let's leave it at that.

sorry kasparov, but my point was not about the amounts of alcohol drunk by the various parts of society, but where it is actually consumed.

i hope i didnt upset too many of my lashed up, lary, middle class neighbours, who, i am certain, can put away as much sancerre as the next man.

there was a small article in the guardian today, which, you would hope, will be followed by something more substantial in the weeks to come. was she not also bestowed the title of 'Dame'?. it wasnt mentioned in the paper, but i think that she was. as you can be made a knight or a dame these days for...

i cant help thinking that dictionary corner is having a bit of a larf.

to save you getting caught up in the traffic on the high street, due to the gas mains, why not try penge/crystal palace park road instead.

maybe by 'family' she means something along the lines of the kray family, or, more fitting to our area, the richardsons. i wish her well, and, as always, will give it a go when it changes. i think, nasaroc, you may have hit the nail, squarely, on the head, 'call me middle class....etc'. from my expe...

unless i am much mistaken, this was tried when the pukka bar was opened a few years back. i am pretty certain that it was backed by some michelin starred chef (or summat like that) and it was a sort of indian gastro pub. great idea, i thought, and frequented it a couple of times. unfortunately, it w...

i dont really know about the proposed development. i was against the development at the top of crystal palace park, as i was worried about the amount of traffic it would bring to the area (when i lived at the top of westwood hill). at the same time as bromley council wanted to build the multiplex, i...
