And I also see from following that link that someone was killed after being hit by a train at Sydenham Hill. My heart goes out to everyone affected - family and friends, and the poor driver and guard of the train. Second fatality at Sydenham Hill within a month........... http://www.newsshopper.co....

Re: Southend Lane - Lower Sydenham Bridge
This bridge still gets clouted almost every day, it's unusual for one to get reported on.

"Phase one" which permits the building of 223 dwellings has already been approved. "Phase two" is seeking consent to build a further 297, that's 520 in total, up to 12 storeys high. That'll be a substantial area of Lower Sydenham visually blighted forever, I can only see Sainsbur...
Re: Car Tyres
Assuming your car still has the original wheels, then the original tyres would have been Michelin 'Energy Saver' 195/55 R16 87v. Having owned two of that particular (2004-2009) model and two later models, I would highly recommend that you stick with exactly what the manufacturer recommends. The prob...

Re: Good old Gurkhas
Just on the edge of Sydenham but in Penge, you'll find Himalayan Kitchen, which is run by the former head chef at Gurkhas. It's takeaway only but superb. Himalayan Kitchen is excellent and it's NOT just takeaway only. They're not licensed so just take your own drink in, they have several tables one...

Re: Experienced waiter / waitress required for local event
Welcome to the forum. I would go no further than The Himalayan Kitchen at 17 Penge Lane, SE20. The food they provide is probably the best I've ever tried, and I consume a lot of curry from establishments all over the country, it is simply top quality and absolutely delicious. Customer review link he...

Re: Accident on Sydenham High Street
. I am surprised that the injuries were only minor but it was a newish car so likely had good air bags. I had an accident in a newish car on 4th March with four out of seven of my airbags deploying in a head-on collision at the Westwood Hill/Crystal Palace Park Road junction. They actually caused r...

A rather depressing comment from the dog owner after this article, police just don't seem to be interested in this sort of incident.

Southend Lane?
This postcard is currently for sale on Ebay under "Old London postcards - Southend Lane Sydenham c.1899". I've seen a few old photos of Southend Lane from that era and knowing the road well I can always immediately recognise the exact spot where they were taken, even back then it looked a ...
