If its within London postal district its regarded as urban. So SE20 is urban, but walk a few yards from the Crooked billet say, and you are in Beckenham parish, thus sub-Urban. Beckenham you see has no SE code. At least thats how the Insurance man justified my excessive premium in Penge Lane SE wher...

The is at least one memorial in Elmers End cemetary to Blitz casualties, the Fire Service I think.
Thats the cemetary oposite where the bus garage used to be; follow the main drive, its on the right hand side, quite a way in.

Thanks Mosy, on the rare couple of occasions I watched bits of that programme, I do not recall being mesmerised by mr hasselhoff, I may have been looking elsewhere. As a confirmed non swimmer, I have had no need of bathing drawers since my school drowning classes at Forest Hill pools. I was able to ...

I realise this is a bit late in the post, and its probably a very silly question, but what are speedos? I thought they might be some kind of sports shoe but now I am wondering, be kind to an OAP, to me a speedo is that round thing in a dashboard that tells you how fast you are going.

To suggest (as some have) that the lifeguard himself might have skewed thinking is unreasonable in my view, given the responsibility he's taken on simply by being in that position. . I did not mean to infer that the lifeguard himself was pervy in any way. What I was suggesting is that the best way ...

In Panmure road in the 1950s, lived an old chap notable im my memeory for his lack of height, probably 5ft or a bit less; he had an equally diminutive wife. He would always have his pockets full of sweets, this was when they were not only rationed, but scarce amongst the hard up kids anyway; these s...

I would accuse the jobsworth of being a pervert. Ask him why he is looking so closely at this two year old child as to be able to establish its gender. I would then suggest such a close interest is in itself unhealthy and worrying to a parent. Then ask if he has been cleared by the police to work wi...

I went to school in Kelvin Grove just after the war. These ruined houses and makeshift garages are typical of what one could see at that time; these would mostly be the damage caused by the V2 on Panmure Road. No 15 Panmure built on the site of the church has or had, remains of foundations in its ga...
