Re: 278 - 280 Kirkdale

Disappointed to see another developer is letting down Sydenham with promises of a wine bar to bring new night time economy to the area, when actually the site is being advertised on the Acorn website as either retail or financial services. I found this via Twitter. http://www.acorncommercial.co.uk/p...

I'm afraid I can't make it because of work commitments.

Good luck though. I know you'll smash it!

Re: Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign #rebuildthegreyhound

Parker. The objective of this thread is to save the greyhound as a pub. Have you been to the London Beer Dispensary? Or the old red cow? Or Beer Rebellion? Or 161 Kirkdale? All small spaces. And they serve food. And they work. Anyway I've said this so many times it's getting boring. And have you nev...

I don't seem to have permission to post on their timeline. I think I may have been blocked already.

Perhaps if people share their group and write a comment too?

Re: Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign #rebuildthegreyhound

Tweeted and tagged @selcamra (South East London CAMRA) I would suggest others doing the same, they will probably retweet you to their 5000 followers. I would suggest everyone tweeting the link several times a week, that way you'll hit more of your followers. I will also direct some tweets to some in...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey

I'm with you Gaddison. We need to get together to save the pub. Eagle - I'm not sure who you're asking but most of the forward thinking people, and those I know who have just moved to the area are all for the pub being rebuilt. To knock it down would be against the initial agreement and essentially ...

Re: Sydenham Artisan Market - 2nd Saturday of the month

Great.

Suggestion, why not replace the now out of date Arts Festival banners along the road with banners advertising the markets?

If they're going to be a success they need marketing.

Re: Billings: Fresh never frozen?

As far as I'm aware William Rose used to get their chickens from the same farm. They were never labelled. Not sure now though. I trust Billings completely. And I think Amar's response clarifies that trust even more so. I think this is the supplier, sorry if I am wrong: http://www.diaperpoultry.co.uk...

Very exciting. We'll be in soon.

Can I ask what beers you'll be serving?

Happy to help on any advice on that front too.

Re: NEW OPENINGS, NEW CLOSINGS

Looks good. Personally a limited menu is a goods thing in my book. Do a few things and do them well. Nice variation on dishes too. Can't wait to see the weekend brunch menu. With this, 161, the cafe in Mayow Park and the bar that is set to open next to the DIY shop I think we're really seeing a turn...

Yeah Rachael. I'm sure it was just teething problems. I think they went the first week.

I'm looking forward to a trip to Shannon's followed by a nice pint.

Re: Meanwhile in Penge

I thought they'd opened? My mates went there for Sunday lunch and said the food was mediocre. So, they're closed again for a complete refurb? It's a shame as I'd only just found out that various soul music legends used to perform there as warm up shows for London gigs, including Alexander O'Neill. I...

Re: Meanwhile in Penge

It is a shame Antic haven't yet come to Sydenham. We were all so hopeful when the Greyhound was said to be being acquired by them. The Two Halfs (sic) would have been a perfect site too. Not enough was done to preserve that as a pub site in my opinion. And like you Eagle, I think Mary did a wonderfu...

Re: Update on the Alex pub

Such a shame as these guys really know how to run a pub/bar in a respectable civilised manner.

I'd advise those complaining to visit the London Beer Dispensary or Beer Rebellion.

I really hope plans for the Alex go through.

Re: NEW OPENINGS, NEW CLOSINGS

Agree with what you're saying Sydenhamboy. I think it will be great when these places open. Hopefully make people understand that there is a need for more food establishments and pubs. I think the place next to the DIY shop will do a roaring trade, if done properly. And 161 seems to be doing well so...

Ooo exciting things... CLIFTON AQUATICS It started with a fish... Oh what vision. I hope they're successful. But I have to say, with the outside railings looking set for outside seating I was hoping for something else. Just been to Peckham where some amazing things are happening then see this on my ...

Re: NEW OPENINGS, NEW CLOSINGS

Oh my god Tim and Lee.

I swear some of these businesses have laundrettes out the back, washing something other than clothes.

Awful.

And yes next to the bookshop will be flats and a bar/restaurant, according to reliable sources. Hopefully something with vision!
