Indeed. Can't wait for this evening's festivities.

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Families sat outside enjoying and afternoon drink while their children play in a small play area. Nice music coming from inside in a restored pub filled with different age groups enjoying the space. From what I've seen the available space is pretty small so a play area doesn't seem feasible to me a...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Firstly, thanks to biscuitman1978. Great stuff. Personally I hope it's not a chain, at least not a major one. And why have a Costa Coffee who serve low rate coffee when you have Sugar Hill just opposite and other excellent independent coffee shops in the vicinity. Do we really want Sydenham to be an...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey
Hi Chris, These factors seems entirely reasonable. But it also seems daft that they are holding up the rebuilding as they aren't related. Surely planning could be flexible and agree to look favourably on such amends if the building is made watertight sooner and us it as a bargaining tool? Isn't com...

Yeah. I think it is just thinking before you tweet. Also the big problem with twitter is that sarcasm doesn't come out very well. And she could have been being sarcastic. I won't take to hounding people on Twitter, I think she'll know her mistake, which I'm sure wasn't intentional. Oh, and I'm on tw...

Re: Stabbing on a train
User '@ELemoine' said: "Little stabbing in train lower Sydenham. Late for meeting as many others". What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say? Someone's been stabbed, it shouldn't matter if it's little. And what constitutes a little stabbing anyway? Oh, and diddums you're late for your me...

So, does anyone know what the South London Press said? Have the council and Purelake had their meeting? Now we have the mural are we going to see some more progress?

Re: Abandoned building next to Sydenham station
Hi Ben It's the old Greyhound pub. The developers who built the flats tried to pull a fast one with it so it's been going through the courts. Hopefully things will start moving soon and we'll have a lovely new boozer. Check out the end of this thread for updates: http://sydenham.org.uk/forum/viewtop...

Re: Save the Kent House Tavern
To be honest Conker it depends wholly on who is running the pub and how it is managed. The microbrewery Dark Knights have taken over the Alexandra and will no doubt turn it into a family friendly food and ale/craft beer pub attracting a certain clientele. As I'm sure would happen to the Alexandra. T...

Re: Save the Kent House Tavern
Do you want me to comment on the planning application? I couldn't find a link to a petition. Unless I'm going mad. Tim - I'm not misguided, I'm passionate about pubs. Imagine if someone decided to turn your allotments into houses? Or a local park where people can meet? Or a local cafe used by the co...

Re: Save the Kent House Tavern
Happy to help where I can. It's happening to far too many pubs. Tim: If all pubs that closed turned into residential properties we would have none left. We need to fight to save these places. Especially if pub companies are interested. And the development you showed I cycle past often, and have done...

Re: Sydenham Market - Saturday, 10th May
I'm sure we'll pop down but I do hope it's better organised than last month. I found it really disappointing. We need more food stalls and more of our local producers selling too. And more stalls. I know it was said last months was over prescribed but it felt like most of the plot near Queensthorpe ...

Absolutely wonderful news! Sounds great and I know Mrs G will be very excited too. Tubby - I think it's time we had a rematch. Can anyone from the Sydenham Society comment? How about Chris Best? It would be good to find out from those who are hopefully doing some good for our local area.
