Did I read that right? No regeneration of Sydenham High Street until 2012?

I thought I would get this on the board early. Will the Christmas tree and lamp post decorations be even better than last year, can they beat 8 post decorations down a third of the high street and lights that work on the tree for just a day or two!!? Or will savage spending cuts disrupt the magnific...

Has anybody else seen that lad with a fluffy afro who does somersaults and back flips off the top of London's shoddiest roundabout there at cobbs corner!!? normally around 6pm...very bizarre.

Then there's just the small matter of a complete refurb of the adjoining properties along "Basra Parade" and we'd be getting somewhere!

Does anybody know exactly what Julie Sutch our "town center manager" does to improve the high street and surrounding area in Sydenham because it remains a complete mystery to me 22 months after moving down here. Take behind Somerfield and the carpark area for example...rubbish stacked up e...

That £50,000 could have been well spent on changing the sign on the Neighbourhood Centre into the Neighbourhood Center.

Wow, no expense spared again this year, and I have to say the Tree looks fantastic. Thanks to all our local councillors and town center managers for really going that extra mile, Merry Council Tax everyone!

The shop fronts are absolutely dreadful in about 50% of cases, the high street has been dug up for over 14 months, no-one sweeps the pavements, no washer trucks ever come through to clear the gutters, crap is still piling up by the Wesley Hall, the litter bins are still damaged, the municipal signag...

Can I suggest that you get on the councils' case with daily phonecalls until they do something about it, speak to the head of department and remind him that they recently sent a newsletter out banging on about pest control and how on top of it they are!

I've tried to get the Envirocor team to clean that up by Wesley Hall but they looked at it and because its not on the footpath (but 10cm off it) they won't shift it, doe that building belong to the church next door..if so I thought cleanliness was next to godliness!

Why can't it be landscaped with some plants and that and why doesn't the streetcleaner get rid of the naffing cones off of it!

I'd be up for a game, after narrowly losing to the Dolphin owners in the final of the boules contest last summer I've been looking for some arena of revenge!!

so gwyn, how many signatures do you need to delay improvements to the high street?

Has anyone asked the guys on the bench to complete the survey? As I think somebody has put it's probably better to have them on the main road under CCTV, its just chief matey with the tatooed face who scares me a little bit

Thanks Crimson1, I'll take it from here, if opening 3 letterboxes will burn you out don't bother, the kids coming out of care didn't want a soaked mattress and broken bedrrom furniture when I asked

Perhaps the Fairlawn Association people could put a note through the door at Fairlawn Court, Number 2 and Number 4 asking them nicely to do something about it? (Include a map with directions to the dump), good idea about the street van but I'm not shelling out on behalf of these neighbours.

Yeah, especially Fairlawn Court at the top of the road there, it would only take half an hour to get shot of it aswell, pity

I see Christmas tree recycling is top of the agenda on this site, so how come that naff tree they put up on the high street is still there?
