Re: The Sydenham Society
Why is it only just now all these people from the Sydenham Society are starting to speak on this forum? Are they quietly watching what's being said here anonymously and now piping up because people are talking about it and slating it. What I'd like to know is, why is it only just now that this forum...

Re: Ellie Reeves MP breaks promise
Please explain what 'Liberal elite' means? I keep see it thrown about but no-one explains it. Liberal elite, in my view - would be your BBC news/Guardian reader, your pro-immigrant do-gooder that acts as though they care about the working class but won't live next door to either and instead, as if ...

Re: Ellie Reeves MP breaks promise
A hard Brexit should be the only Brexit. It's about carrying out the will of the people, not that the liberal elite could agree with that when it's not on their own terms. Everybody knows what the silent majority voted for on 23rd June 2016 and there was nothing 'soft' about it. General elections en...

Re: sydenham needs an uplifting
It looked great and you could fill up bottles of wine from the barrel taps. They had those kilner type bottles. Would love something like that to open here. [/quote Is this a very subtle joke? You know we have this at Bob Wines right by the station right? That's interesting as I suggested that a ch...

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
Spoke to planning officer today to see what the status of the application is for the change of use. I was informed that the planning officer has written her report and it is now with a senior officer to review their recommendation. As such it looks like it is not going to go to planning committee a...

The b@stards tampering with the Nando's plan for Kirkdale are going to have a fight on their hands.SydenhamOwl wrote:Get Nando's there if the plans to have it in Kirkdale get killed off. I'd be up for it.

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
There are rumours spreading on Facebook about Cobs corner that Nandos is coming along with a cinema. It comes from people who live in the building that the old wedding dress shop will become a Nandos, possibly along with the CAB office. It makes sense to combine food and film, especially with the o...

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
I've heard rumours that nandos are currently reviewing their position and might very well pull out, partly due to some local meddling. While nandos might not be everyone's cup of tea it would at least bring a large vacant premises on a landmark site back into use and help to improve the local offer...

Looks beautiful, although might need to change the external signage at some point. The freshly baked bread is the best thing to happen to Kirkdale since The Crusty Cob!

Personally I hope Co-op becomes a McDonalds This is next-level trolling - bravo! Only the suggestion of a Foxtons would push more middle-class liberal buttons in this context. Suggesting a McDonald's is trolling because you don't agree with it? I'm not sure I get it. Am I troll then if I say I'd ra...

Re: sydenham needs an uplifting
True, there are lots of professionals in Sydenham, but perhaps 2/3 are not professionals and therefore the demand for change isn't quite there, and that's why we're left with the kinds of shops that have remained open, unfortunately. I don't know how many more decades have to pass before your Starbu...

Yes, they were back again last night. Sainsbury's were advised, however the car park is the responsibility of the council. May I ask what our local council is doing about this? It's both dangerous and creates a great deal of noise pollution. Dangerous? Yes. Let them kill themselves if they want to ...

Well Acorn is open - if you call that progress. Stuart It's such a waste of a nice space, as far as we all don't want chain coffee shops in Sydenham (because we're allowed to be as picky as we like) a Starbucks with their modern black signage would've looked really smart in that location. I would p...

no she's not our MP yet - she's only been elected as the labour candidate. admitedly it's a pretty safe seat, but the election hasn't happened yet, so if enough people get out and vote some other way then she won't be. yes I know thats rather unlikely, but I do like to be precise and accurate on ce...
