Re: Low water pressure

Apparently it was a leak test they were doing - presumably thought nobody would be wanting water at 1 am! I was a little freaked given the current situation and the fact that we had no water at all put by, so no handwashing ...

Re: PFC Penge Food Centre Sydenham Road

I noticed the same thing on one of the market stalls in Bromley the other day. And the quality wasn't great, either. The other stalls were charging as normal.

Re: Assistance for over 70s in area

I'm wondering whether a collection of surplus radios/tablets/phones is needed to help these people keep in touch. I would assume that most people of that age would have a functioning phone, at least, but not so sure about the others.

Re: Corvid 19 reality check from an A&E Dr

Seriously scary. And long. Do listen to all of it. He thinks that within a couple of weeks if the spread continues to increase we may well be in a situation where there is only one ventilator per 8 patients, and that doctors will be having to make the awful decision as to which patient gets the vent...

Well, they are still sending me loads of emails. Not sure how they seriously expect me to do viewings when we're not supposed to be making non-essential journeys ...

Re: Assistance for over 70s in area

Reading additional reports that the empty shelves shown in the vid from the night before had NOT in fact been re-stocked particularly well and significant gaps on the shelves were evident when the store opened. This raises an extra question here - despite what most of us would agree is anti-social ...

Re: Assistance for over 70s in area

PM DohJo responded that DBS checks will be carried out in 24 hours. This is entirely unfeasible. It is simply not achievable. What planet are they wired to ? Real and meaningful checks in 24 hours ? Good grief. And if that's unachievable, how on earth are we supposed to believe his statement that w...

Presumably Lewisham does something similar?

Local eateries

On passing through Penge today, I noticed that:
- McDonalds are operating on a takeaway basis only;
- Friends of Flavours are operating a home delivery service, I think it was.

Please add other restaurants etc. here, and do consider patronising our local ones.

Reading the reports, it would seem that changing the heading to "guns or knives" might be more accurate? Bad enough, either way.

Re: Southeastern trains - how are they?

There are probably quite a few boys going to Dulwich College on those trains, too! I think there are 3 from Penge East between about 7.30 and 7.45, but haven't checked since the timetable changed in December. They may not stop at all stations, though. I think the service is generally quite good, alt...

Re: New shop opening?

Not necessarily saying it’s anyone’s fault but although we do have some great stuff on our high street, we have far more empty units (many of which are empty/unused consistently for years) then nearby places like Forest Hill and Penge (why is that?) From my experience of walking down Penge High Str...

And lo and behold, no sooner are the buses back again than there's another diversion through Penge, for the 363, 122 and 202, I think it was. Does that make sense? Must be quite some diversion.

Re: 75 and 194 buses on diversion

And I walked down Parish Lane early this afternoon and couldn't see any signs of water works going on, so I don't know what's happening. Buses are still on diversion, though. Duh! I must have been taking the shortcut through the alley by the railway all this week. The works are virtually at the jun...

Re: 75 and 194 buses on diversion

It's very poor, isn't it? There are no hoods or whatever you call them on the bus stops either, so you really have to look closely to realise that the buses have been diverted.

If anyone's driving down Parish Lane, do report back on what, if anything, is happening.
