Re: second pedestrian light by Sydenham station
The right of the pedestrian is not conditional and has existed since before the motor car, before the roads even. That's taking things a bit too far, don't you think? If a pedestrian is defined as a road user who is not using any kind of electrical or mechanical aid to move alond a road, then surel...

Re: Chicken shop
Litter is a sad fact of life not confined to chicken shops..... I'm sure amongst the chicken bones littering the average high street in the small hours of Saturday and Sunday morning you will also find chip wrappers, kebab boxes, empty beer cans, etc etc etc. Train litter problems that I have observ...

Re: second pedestrian light by Sydenham station
HB, your right to cross the highway wherever you please is matched by the right of a motorist (assuming he has paid his road tax and car insurance) to drive along a public highway. However, if ALL road users stopped thinking in terms of their rights first and started thinking of others things would ...

... people DO have the right to cross wherever and whenever they like. Do they really? https://www.gov.uk/highway-code/contents Where there is a crossing nearby, use it. Whether you are anti- vehicle, anti-cyclist, or anti-pedestrian, the Highway Code confers certain rights and places certain respo...

Re: Chicken shop
Yaaaayyy! Another chicken shop thread! I think we need a KFC in Sydenham. Far superior quality to all the imitations, Morley, Dallas, Miami, etc etc so all the others will go out of business and you'll end up with what most people on this site seem to want.... less chicken shops  Plus of course...

Re: Travelling by Southern trains on Sunday?
Sometimes the nature of the engineering work required means that trains can still run over a section of track but at reduced frequency. If works are taking place between Syd and Crystal Pal, then six trains per hour (2x Southerns per hour London Bridge to Vic and 4x LOROLs per hour Higbury & Is ...

Travelling by Southern trains on Sunday?
Although trains between London Bridge, Sydenham and East Croydon are not affected, there are extensive engineering works taking place, planned at short notice, somewhere between Victoria / Clapham Junction / East Croydon, resulting in big reductions in the normal Sunday service. If you are heading s...

I hope the lack of posts here is not an indication of a lack of interest already.
Hoping this forum has done its job and that anyone who wanted to be aware of it is by now.
Enjoyed some lovely gnocci, macaroons, coconut truffles and cake yesterday and can't wait for next month already.

Re: second pedestrian light by Sydenham station
Wow! lots of debate! My reason for asking was not about the differing opinions of divers and pedestrians or even cyclists. It was simply a question as to why there are now two sets of lights (only one of which is on the plans that are available online) 25 feet from each other and why is it that the...

there is the Journey Planner on TFL The main issue I have with Journey Planner - and also, to a degree, National Rail Enquiries - is when making a journey across London that requires a tube journey between London rail termini. Re: On the hoof
Don't get me wrong, leenewham, I'm all for encouraging local businesses to make an effort - indeed, by asking my question "Who's gonna use this new seating area?", OTH may get feedback like jonekt's which could prove useful. Just because I can't see myself using the seating, doesn't mean I...

Re: On the hoof
I guess you're right, Tim, I am fortunate enough to be able to get from my flat door to Platform 2 in as little as 6 minutes, whereas a sizeable proportion of commuters may have the unpredictability of a bus journey before their train journey. "Turn up and go" may well apply to people head...
