Re: KFC in Savacentre grounds?
Just to be clear, I wasn't attempting to comment on the rights or wrongs of another chicken shop appeaaring in the Sydenham area, or the rights or wrongs of eating a high-fat diet. Whether you personally enjoy KFC or similar fast food establishments or not, you must concede that such places are popu...

KFC in Savacentre grounds?
A few months back, on one of my (frequent) visits to Penge KFC, a guy was in there doing a survey of KFC customers... Questions along the lines of "If a new KFC restaurant was to open in Lower Sydenham area would you use that one or this one." Last time I was at savacentre I noticed a sign...

Re: 2am railway engineering works
I think you have answered your own question. If urgent no time to advise. The other possibility is that it happened during the day, not urgent enough to shut the line as soon as it was discoevered, but to make a temporary repair and do the full job during the small hours when only a handful of trai...

Re: Online anonymity
I know of a former member of this Forum who used to post regularly about a topic he was both interested in, and familiar with because of his job. His posts were considered by quite a few Forum members to be useful and informative. Sadly his employers got wind of the information he was providing here...

Festive train service alterations
Southern Trains are operating a Saturday service on Christmas Eve, with some alterations due to engineering work and the usual early finish to train services . No trains scheduled to start their journey after 2200 will run. For Sydenhamites..... Last Trains TO Sydenham From London Bridge - 2152 From...
Re: Travel
My first thoughts would be Sydenham to London Bridge and change there. Although I am a little rail-biased and bus-blinkered.
Depends whether speed or cost matters most to you I guess.

Can confirm no trains at Syd today.
Also the rail replacement buses between London Bridge and West Croydon are experiencing problems because of a serious road accident at the junction of Croydon Road and Anerley Road in Anerley.

Re: Post all the news of the Riots here (To make it easy)
I find it fascinating how people's perceptions colour their posts....lulahblu feels tension and is worried, Savvy is going to walk up the high street and won't be intimidated! I took a walk down the high street about an hour ago....some shops were already shut (especially pawn shops and jewellers), ...

Re: Support your local business???
Yeah but does anyone think that charging more to go into a shop and buy something than it costs to order it online makes any sense? These people were seriously telling me that it would be cheaper for me to order online, therefore giving them the hassle of purchasing a jiffy bag or similar, packing u...

Support your local business???
Popped into the ink cartridge shop on the high street this afternoon, and told them I'd been on their website to find what I wanted. Imagine my surprise when told that their prices if you order online are cheaper than their prices when you walk in and buy. So if I am forced to order online, I am goi...

Re: Time for another STF social?
I'm up for it, having missed the last one due to a shift change at short notice.
I'm also on a new roster now, longer shifts, but more rest days, and therefore more scope for an evening out.
Any date after the 18th is good for me. Suggestions?

Re: good place to practice driving
When you've had a few sessions in Sainsburys, try Silverdale.....won't be so much a case of practicing how to park, more a case of practicing how to find a parking space, and how to waste time driving around The Thorpes killing 5 mins hoping that someone has moved by the time you pass by again..... ...

Yes, and I understand from a reliable source that the maintenance to the station display systems that this change required brought the information screens throughout the whole of Southern to a grinding halt yesterday morning for about 2hrs....
