Re: Sunday Roasts return to the Golden Lion

Agreed, Eagle. But remember, nothing wrong with kids. If they behave inappropriately, the parents should be held responsible. Though I don't necessarily go 100% along with Philip Larkin's view on the subject... I really don't like establishments that put a blanket ban on children...They wouldn't dre...

The Times? Don't bother. Murdoch certainly craves your custom. Don't give in to temptation.

Re: Lewisham Council - £60m of spending cuts!

So, the sharp meat-cleaver is aimed at Lewisham. All sorts of services will suffer, I'm sure. While there may be room and reason for some barmy and wasteful expenditure to yield to the blade, there are also quite a few deserving causes and services that will be chopped and consigned to the pyre: sac...

Policing: Perhaps it's about the detection of crime and the apprehending of criminals? Perhaps it also has something to do with crime prevention? Maybe we all, as a society, have a role in the above? Also, [My pedantic hat is now on...] Perhaps, maybe???...Many crimes that are similar have similar m...

Not sure if I like the idea of police stations 'projecting themselves'!!

HMMM...I know ...How about the idea of mobile mini police stations...doing the rounds ...as it were? Eh?

.... Saw an ad for mobile [Nat West] banks... Thought the idea looked quite good.

Blimey!! Another restaurant. Just what our neck of the woods really needs.
I wonder if we are slowly losing the ability to try stuff for ourselves.
Today I had a go at Moroccan lamb [etc] ..not bad [if I say so myself!!]
Are our high streets becoming a bit lop-sided?

Good one, Rebelmc. I have lived and worked N of the Thames...Not a patch on what we have to offer...Or maybe I'm just being provocative.
Also, yes, I quite like the bath-tub effect of the Golden Lion.

This must have been a horrible experience for you. It does sound as though you were burgled. How did they gain access to your premises? I know its like bolting the stable door after the gee-gee has scarpered ... But its worth thinking about. Hope you can get your irreplaceables replaced!!

We're on the map...true. I think that's been the case for quite a while.
Like the new trains. Very nice. But, the new service is a case of swings and roundabouts. A bit more of a delay for those wanting to get to Sutton...Brilliant for those desperate to sample the fleshpots of the East End.

Tim.
Yes, of course there is a case for a bit of tidying up. But, lets be clear that it needs to be done fairly and everywhere. My Swift allusion was just a bit of frustrated sounding-off.
Carrot AND stick and targeted compassion can be usefully applied in order to get the results we are looking for.

Street drinkers? What about the elephant in the living room? So-called 'gang culture'. Ongoing moron vendettas, guns, knives and one pathetic murder after the other? Clean up our streets? Where would you like to start? A bit of tinkering here, a stern word there? Move along, please...You look a bit ...

Foxes really shouldn't be in towns...Easy to understand why they are here. They feel safe [!] and they have a ready supply of [junk...literally!!] food. But they are really urban vermin. I saw an old lady feeding foxes cat food not too long ago. Looks like the cats themselves are now forming part of...
