Re: Poodle club
Brief mention of the Poodle Club on Radio 4 today. Now you’ve really arrived!
Re: Mural?
As someone who saw the Forest Hill Mural project evolve from the start, I’ll share this observation, which may be helpful. The polls on the location and design of the murals were the most actively participated in the forum’s history by a big margin. So when the time came for the crowdfunder, there w...

Re: Waste Collection
Sainsbury's sell them, and most other supermarkets too Does anyone know what size they are? Can't see the size on the caddy anywhere. Are they 12 ltr by any chance? It usually says on the pack whether they are for the kitchen caddy (small) or kerbside caddy, but both are clearly marked as biodegrad...

Re: Council housing and the Sydenham Society
Or, everyone join Syd Soc to make their membership more representative and provide strength in numbers to overhaul their constitution (or enforce it if it is being flouted) and make sure representations in the society’s name are not made arbitrarily by a few members.

Re: Food and drink venues in Sydenham
We ate at the Dolphin over the Christmas holidays. They have refreshed their menu (perhaps in anticipation of competition from The Greyhound) and we had a really excellent meal, an improvement on what we’ve had there before.

Re: What *are* they doing to Dartmouth Road?
But they do seem to be going on for a long time. That to me is the frustration of all this. Not sure when they started but I'm sure it was before the Summer holiday season - that's part of the issue with works. If they are done quickly they are quickly forgotten about and people live with the new d...

Re: What *are* they doing to Dartmouth Road?
It's ironic that Lewisham council are making so many cut backs, e.g on rubbish collection, yet all this money is being 'wasted' on Dartmouth Rd. Why is it a waste? The footpaths were all in a perilous state: narrow, sloping, broken paving. Much worse than the footpaths on Sydenham Road when they we...

Re: What *are* they doing to Dartmouth Road?
Do bear in mind that the works on Dartmouth Road are ongoing and won’t be finished until February. So whatever delays there are now are not necessarily how it’s going to be henceforth. The plans were debated at length in SE23 and a lot of feedback given in consultations. A lot of the concerns were a...

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
A quick Google search shows that Nandos has trailled a new home delivery service that has been rolled out nationwide with the last week. So that IS something that needs to be taken into consideration with the planning. I support a Nandos at that site, by the way, but I thought it only fair to mentio...

Re: St Philip Neri school, lower Sydenham
My kids were at the school back when this was first proposed, and looking at the plans, it looks like the long proposed plan to buy land at the back of the school from the church has been achieved. The playground and buildings are being reversed, so the existing rear playground will be expanded to i...

Depends on the dog. Mine does because he suffers from heat stroke in the summer if I don't get him clipped.Robin Orton wrote:@Syd-Gal: No. They are/were dogs. They're not into nice designs.
@Rachael. They don't/didn't need barbering. Dogs prefer the natural look.

In human terms, you are confusing 'washing' and 'barbering'.Robin Orton wrote:Our dogs have always groomed themselves, without charge.

Re: Proposed new SE26.life forum
Michael - your reply reminds me of the scene from Pride and Prejudice where Mr Darcy says he knows only six 'truly accomplished women' and proceeds to list the considerable number of qualities he looks for in such a female. Elizabeth Bennet's response is: 'I am no longer surprised at your knowing on...

Re: Proposed new SE26.life forum
For clarification, P1971 is not an admin, mod or 'sponsor' on SE23.life, or represent it in any capacity.
I find the last few posts rather confusing as to who is being accused of doing or saying what.

The primary motive behind this proposal - a quote from ChrisBeach 5 days ago on SE23.life: On Monday I go back to full time contract work. I'm grateful for the paid work, and I'll give it my all, but one day I'd like to develop a viable income from my personal projects. Running a dozen "Dot Li...

Re: Proposed new SE26.life forum
Apple tree is correct. Mention of the SE23.com forum is not forbidden by the team at SE23.life. It comes at the request of the SE23.com admin when the forum was first set up. While we are under no obligation to comply with that, and our general approach is to keep everything as open, transparent and...

Re: Welcome Sign in Ladywell
There are plans to do something in Forest Hill too, although still very tentative at this stage. I love these signs. I especially like that the Ladywell one hasn't gone for the more Victorian style of some of the others that have sprung up. Not that they aren't lovely, but it's good to make each are...
