Re: Disability access

A friend of mine who is a deaf postman is getting real trouble with access. People are putting in security gates. You need press a bell and talk to someone to get in to access the letterbox. Except if you are deaf you don't know if anybody is there or what they may be saying or able to identify your...

Re: Aeroplane sky trails

Not an aircraft trail but a bit of a shock when I looked up a few minutes ago to see a rainbow in our glorious sunny sky! No rain, of course, so it must be ice-crystals reflecting the suin that very high wispy cloud. Never seen it before.

Re: Disability access

Yes, all power to the initiative. All I would add is don't forget all those with hidden disabilities. Not all disabled people are in wheelchairs. if you need to ask who they are are then you are part of the problem.

Re: Seriously, where can we talk about politics?

I see the problem Tim that there is only one topic in town - Brexit. Worse still its rare to see a real discussion on Brexit. It doesn't take long to degenerate into throwing bricks over a wall. Its killed real poilitical discussion - here, on the BBC or anywhere. If anything is more important to th...

Re: Rolling Stones in Sydenham

Bill Wyman was brought up by his aunt in Penge. His autobiography makes much of the formation of the group and the bonding (or otherwise) between members. If he was aware of a Penge connection with Mick I would have thought he would have mentioned it. But I don't remember any mention. Mind you its b...

Re: Moving to Sydenham

The point of my "thin" evidence is that it was so bad 30yrs ago I upped and got out . From my regular reading of the moans groans and complaints on here, and the odd trip down Kirkdale and Sydenham road via google street to marvel at the variety of fastfood joints, closed pubs and shops, graffiti, t...

If one takes the time to look at the content and style of the tweets, they are comparable to those of a frequent contributor on this forum. An on-line blog has also been created by what looks like the same style and content and thereby may be that same person: https://sydenhamgasworks.home.blog/ I'...

Re: Moving to Sydenham

Penge and Sydenham should be seen as a single area. Few people know where the boundary lies. I think you might be right too. Despite putting two big posts at every boundary and a huge 20mph paint job on the road - most don't seem to notice they have crossed from a reponsible area to an irresponsibl...

Things to do today (Thursday)

BIRD WALK: An expert conservation officer leads a bird walk through Sydenham Hill Woods, in aid of London Wildlife Trust. See and hear bird species at dusk, when they're most active, including wren, robin, blackbird and woodpigeon... and if you're really lucky, kestrel, sparrowhawk and the area's re...

Re: Moving to Sydenham

Nothing to do with passenger numbers. The journey time was 13 minutes. It is now 22 minutes. The scheduled time is 21 minutes. You know as well as i that includes a padding time so if the train is late in Sydenham it still arrives 'on-time' at LBG protecting Southern's service statistics. I would s...

Re: Moving to Sydenham

i have lived in Sydenham for 35 years. I was mugged once - in East Dulwich! Sydenham is as good or bad as you want to make it. The difference here is the variety of homes, incomes and much else. It doesn't have the boring homogeneity of many other areas of London that are endless terraces, blocks or...

Oh, I thought was a portent to the establishment of the thousand year reichforum in SE23. The last attempt elsewhere lasted 12 years so you are getting off really light. Be thankful. Remember you don't actually have to do anything to cause offence to this lad. It's all done for you. Should give you ...
