Re: Boundary commission - Sydenham to combine with Dulwich

A dead cert Labour MP versus a dead cert Tory one - not much of a choice. A consequence of FPTP for most of the country. Any other vote is a wasted vote an ensures we will always be run by a government representing only 40% of the electorate or even less.. We moan about it endlessly. But then we vo...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order

It's easy to criticise the Archdiocese. I know, I've done it in spades. But while education and aesthetics should be in the lead here - it's money that in the end counts. I cannot imagine the Archdiocese don't have eyes and can't see what the rest of us can. But to rebuild will cost money the Ed dep...

Get your Covid-10 Vaccination Passport here ->

Was here an announcement I missed? Surprise when I loaded up the NHS App (different from the Covid-19 App) to find not only my vaccination status but a 'Travel' link that led to a QR code for scanning when asked by an 'official'. Who, I wonder, are these authorised officials - border control, police...

Re: Daniel Morgan Murder

Report will be published on June 15th. From BBC News: A spokesman said: "An agreement has been reached that a small team from the Home Office will be permitted to read the report in advance of publication, under strict viewing conditions, at the premises of the panel. "As was always envisa...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order

Why are they concerned Robin? Being decanted to a school 2 miles away was the highlight of my junior school time. Surely the Archdiocese will not try holding the kids hostage to the current building. Their Plan A may be hoping to win on the Appeal of the Appeal but I think parents should show concer...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order

More delay, more expense to the Archdiocese and us. What's been spent and still to spent must be considerably more than was 'saved' by the original cost cutting which resulted in this abomination or to have fixed it promptly when concerns were first raised. Clearly the church has no regards for the ...

Re: Daniel Morgan Murder

A person far more knowledgeable about this case believes the rot could not have been confined to Catford nick. How far up the Met & Kent chain of command is speculation.. It may explain the Home Office sensitivity about the conduct of former senior officers becoming public. I expect the redactio...

Re: Covid Vaccination- Sydenham Green Group Practice

I can only speak for my two visits. The first @5:20pm on the day was walk in, no queue, and straight into the booth without stopping. The second (which would have been with the same cohort of people) was a long queue - most outside and about 20/30 mins wait. This was a morning appointment and the pr...

Re: St Philip Neri school: Archdiocese appeals planning enforcement order

May I, for once, come to the defence of JRW. I have been critical in the past of her approach to the good people on the governing body. People we should be charming to do the right thing. But the Archdiocese is a different kettle of fish. I think it fair to expose their betrayal of their Christian d...

Re: Concerning Chris Beach

Can a tiger change its stripes? Doesn't look like it. I had hoped we had all moved on. But a lack of medication or whatever is in danger of of bringing us back full circle. I had, in good faith, hidden the website 'Concerning Chris' at the request of someone who had believed Chris had indeed moved o...

Re: Lidl relocation plans?

Such a shame the gym has taken up the best site. From eye the square footage of the Co-op is probably less than the existing Lidl if you include storage. More sensible to aquire and combine the adjoining Bishop's Furniure perhaps? All the checkouts and queues would fit in there comfortably making t...

Absolutely hilarious to see that @RC_Southwark have just blocked me on twitter. Get a burner account or use a browser (maybe through a private window). Simples - I've only ever been blocked by one person (guess who). I don't see the point since it can be so easily bypassed. Bottom line is good peop...

5G Nimby-ism?

I just had a converstion with a gentleman seeking signatures on a petition to stop the proposed mast outside Sydenham Tennis Club in Lawrie Park Road. He assured me he was not against 5G - just the location. The two arguments put forward were: It was too near residential housing. It would obstruct h...

Re: Noise pollution

I don't know how far you are from the lower part of Lawrie Park Gardens - but a neighbour is having underpinning work done. Hence we have a diesel engine presumably pumping concrete or whatever into the property 8/12 hours a day. Noisy but, I guess, necessary. Hopefully it will all be over soon. Stu...
