Re: how to get out of this mess
What I would like to see the Government do is to be honest and state that you cannot go back to a level of risk which is pre COVID. What I mean by this is no matter how long lockdown lasts, the return to more normal life cannot be risk free. So looking at the vaccination programme when do you lift o...

Re: how to get out of this mess
Yes, I agree the "let COVIS rip" concept is nonsensical and would lead to the collapse of the NHS which would impact cancer treatment etc. What I think should be said though that there is no good outcome when something like COVID19 happens, any action will have adverse impacts. On R4 last ...

Re: se23.com - an exile from the north speaks out
Yup, I seem to be permanently banned as well. Mind, if "the official" SE23 site is cutting and pasting police posts from one site to another are they breaking the law? It feels like they are giving the appearance of the Safer Neighbourhood Team posting on that site when they are not. Mind ...

Re: Commuting from Sydenham to London Bridge
Hi, At the time you are talking about in the am you would be OK to London Bridge (its the Overground trains to Canada Water that are rammed) and if Southern trains ran properly (every 15 mins), not too bad in the evening peak as 10 coach trains. However, you will probably have read about the bitter ...

Re: Jim Dowd speaks on Southern in Parliament
Wish I could see any improvement but I cannot. As far as I can see, both Southern and the unions have contempt for the travelling public. I do not see any improvement in 2017. Its a management/ union battle and the travelling public are "collateral damage". Don't expect any change soon.

Re: Reduction in services from London Bridge
Sent email query in. It will apparently take Southern 20 days to reply due to high volume of complaints. Best to wfh if you can or get the 17:06/36 if you can't. At least if there are long delays the toilet facilities at Lon Bridge are free to use.

Re: Reduction in services from London Bridge
I went onto Train Line for next Monday and Wednesday and the services are 17:06, 17:37, 18:14, 18:36 (and the 18:14 is actually change at New Cross Gate and get Overground). There seems to be something really weird with the London Bridge to Victoria route. I typed in London Bridge to Victoria on Mon...

Re: Railway Problems - Lines Closed
From southern: On Monday a large hole developed below the track in the Forest Hill area (between East Croydon and London Bridge). Assessments and plans were made to repair and fill the hole with additional ballast material that supports the track and work on this repair has continued overnight. We a...

Railway Problems - Lines Closed
There is a sinkhole opened under Forest Hill station (!) so according to Southern / London Overground there is complete shutdown between London Bridge to East Croydon. Apparently maintenance staff are looking into it (the hole?). Looks likely to be for remainder of day. Not sure what situation is fo...

Re: Station approach - new toilet
Maybe the "toilet listening post" has been installed by the Dowd brothers. It may be sensible when going past to say that Purelake is a very fine public spirited building company and that JD is peerless as an MP. You never know who is listening......

Re: Station approach - new toilet
Oh - I've got it. The Sydenham public convenience does look rather similar to the East German Stasi listening outposts badly camoflauged as an everyday object. It isn't really a toilet. Its got microphones inside and it eavedrops on commuters.

Re: Station approach - new toilet
It occurs to me that Forest Hill, Honor Oak and probably pretty much every other station does not have a public convenience outside the station. Any particular reason why Sydenham is so favored - local history buffs may help. Given that the said convenience in Sydenham has not been open for last cou...

I suspect we will see a Grand Bargain between Conservatives and SNP. Devo max in Scotland for an agreement that Scots do not vote for English laws. Locks labour out full stop. To be honest the only party that can now defeat the Conservatives is the Conservatives. Think the 1992 election which they w...

Re: Southern services to/from London Bridge
Just seen from se 23 forum that it looks like no trains / Overground beyond New Cross Gate on 4 out of 5 next weekends, starting this weekend. Be sure to go the station on March 14/15th to remind yourself what a train on a weekend looks like!
