Re: Babysitting rates

Hi Ria,
We usually pay £8 an hour for a babysitter to come to our house (two children).
Many of my friends use the agency 'sitters'.
Also,if you join the FB page 'Sydenham Mums' there are often babysitters offering their services on there.

Re: School shoes

I popped in a couple of weeks ago to get my son some school shoes and was really impressed with the service.
And it's good to shop locally too.

Re: Threatening behaviour at Lower Sydenham Station parking

I think Sydenham station parking and lower Sydenham station parking are different issues. There are many more residents near Sydenham and penge east and I would hate not being able to park near my house too. Like someone else said Lower Syd is mainly industrial and quite a lot of the houses there ha...

Re: Threatening behaviour at Lower Sydenham Station parking

I don't think I'm being selfish,I just don't want to walk down that dark, deserted and scary road on my own at night. I think that's fair enough? I do walk in the mornings if I have to go into work though,it's a twenty minute walk for me so not too bad. So does the Beckenham MOT place not bother you ...

Re: Threatening behaviour at Lower Sydenham Station parking

I don't feel safe walking home from Lower Sydenham station on my own at night and so that is why I park at the station!
If you live right next to a station then people will park on the roads near it!

Re: Threatening behaviour at Lower Sydenham Station parking

Hi, I've not had any threatening behaviour but the parking situation has become a nightmare. I work evenings mainly and it used to be a doddle to park. Even last Saturday evening most of the road is full. I always thought it was the MOT place? At least all the white vans have gone from the Hermes wa...

Re: New chippy and kebab shop

We had cod and chips from here last night. By far the best I've had in London. Chips were great and the best thing was there was no silvery fish skin to avoid like everywhere else serves around here. Really pleased as I was moaning reverently that there are no decent chippy's. [ Post made via Mobile...

Re: Primary School agonies, advice needed

I don't think you will get into Eliot Bank if you live on Collingtree...I do know someone from your road who goes there but she lived closer when she started there. My neighbours go to St Barts and are pleased and one of my friend's daughters goes to Kelvin Grove and they have been happy....although...

Re: Hello there Sydenham! Tell me about yourself

Sydenham wells park (off Jews Walk) is lovely. Good play area and water fountains.

Mayow park is good too.

Beckenham place park is fun, five minute drive away with lots of woods.

Re: Skinny cat hanging around.

I don't think it's a Maine Coone,I have just googled it and they look massive and have funny ears.
Also,the vet didn't mention it.
He's not here all the time so perhaps he does have an owner who isn't looking after him well?

Re: Activities for Babies and Toddlers

Hi Gill, There is a One O'clock Club in crystal palace park, you need the entrance on crystal palace park road. I think it's open 9:30-12:30 and 1-4 on weekdays. There is a playgroup in the church hall attached to the catholic church next to the library. This is a good one as it's spacious and they d...
