Re: Royal Mail to stop Saturday deliveries
It has been announced that Royal Mail are to make 2,000 people redundant. Despite actions earlier this month to dispense with the services of their oft-times absent CEO, the rationalisation plans proceed apace. Regrettably it happens under the cover of the pandemic crisis. Are these redundancies re...

Re: Local public transport and face coverings
I guess that must be it. I wonder why anyone thinks it's over? Wait for the infections to start rising again ... And, two days ago, on a 358, I was the only one out of 7 actually wearing a face covering. I haven't got used to checking for more than simply the number of passengers before I get on a ...

Re: The 8pm NHS celebration
I think this Thursday’s clap may be the last one. I am sure I read it somewhere. We should make it count if it is the last one! https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/22/lets-stop-clapping-for-the-nhs-says-woman-who-started-the-ritual As it’s the last one I shall perhaps bring my wok and ladle :D

Re: Local public transport and face coverings
I got on a 227 bus earlier today: we ended up with perhaps 15 people on the bus, and maybe only 1/5 of those actually wearing face coverings of any sort. To add insult to injury, they weren't optimally spread out, either, which made social distancing of any sort very difficult. Based on my observat...

Re: Social distancing on the High Road
Hi all, the lockdown worked so well some people think the pandemic is over. The traffic and people outside my home on Friday and yesterday was quite shocking and not one mask. It’s not the flu it’s more like airborne HIV and there is no guarantee of immunity as there are 3 distinct mutations. There...

Re: The 8pm NHS celebration
My wife Mary and I have been out on the High Street each Thursday evening to bang saucepan lids. Last week we noticed that the response was more muted. Far fewer cars sounded their horns and waved. The movement may be running down. The week before last I head bin lids being banged and it was more l...

Re: Masks
If you are buying masks, please have a look on Etsy. There are a lot of home sewers diverting their small businesses from making other textiles to producing masks. Worth supporting, IMO. I have bought several cotton and linen masks from different sellers on Etsy and they’ve all been great. Have at ...
Re: Masks
I ordered some from Amazon to wear. I shop for my 70 year old diabetic mother, so it was important to me to not catch nor pass on anything.. whilst they may not be 100% I feel I am doing all I can. As more people go back to work, the likelyhood of infection rising again seemed viable, so getting so...
Re: Masks
It’s crazy that more people aren’t wearing facial barriers. There are so many more people out and about now- clearly the combination of Johnson’s recent statements and good weather are having an effect. Lots of people clearly breaking rules and hanging out with their mates. All the more reason to w...
Masks
Hi all I hope you’re all doing well. I went out in a mask not far from home I haven’t been out for ages and I got some weird looks. Is anyone else wearing a mask? I wonder how many more people have to die before this is taken seriously?

Perfect, I’m looking forward to clapping next weekchrisj1948 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2020 11:37 Last Thursday my wife and I were at our front gate on Sydenham Road, banging our pan lids, when a car drew up near us. Re: The 8pm NHS celebration
People from the NHS have told me how very much they appreciate this. It's now been more than a month of hell for them. Hardened paramedics have been reduced to tears. Football fans will know the value of a home crowd willing their team on. It's an honour for me to be part of keeping up the spirits ...

Re: The 8pm NHS celebration
I clapped for the last time this week.
I saw the idiots on Westminster bridge and I want no part of this. People will die in May due to their selfishness and the emergency services including the police taking part is unforgivable.
I really don’t get it
