Thank you for the invite Julia - I hope people who have commented and asked questions on this thread take you up on it, to find out a bit more about what you're up to! I'd be really interested to come along - I'm not sure whether I'll be around that weekend but if I am I'll definitely come down and ...

My opinion about LB Lewisham is just that I think our council is excellent with it's parks. That might be undue credit but it is one I give it nonetheless. I don't really have enough experience to know whether they're good or bad. On the one hand you've got something like Well's park, which I think...

I can't imagine Lewisham would want it though - as everyone has said, it needs a tonne of investment, not just immediate capital but long-term maintainance - it's a financial albatross. It's a general problem with the Crystal Palace area as a whole that it sits on the boundary of a number of borough...

Echo your sentiments exactly minifox. The negativity and apparent hostility to this project is very depressing to read. Is it too difficult to comprehend that the kind of kids who are likely to be most in need of help are likely to be most reticent about approaching traditional 'authority' figures l...

a. What services , sutrly they can contact the bus company or GP surgery without any help. But young women often don't go to the GP themselves because it seems intimidating, and they don't know what other services are available (walk-in clinics etc), they're worried about their parents finding out ...

Coming through on a train from Victoria yesterday, I noticed most if not all of the platforms on that line had been cleared of snow and ice very thoroughly, so it's obviously not beyond the wit of man to get things cleared. Whilst the stairs and platforms are certainly better than they were, they're...

I'm moving to Sydenham soon (hopefully), but am currently short term in Forest Hill, and was shocked when at FH station on Sunday afternoon that they don't have the facility to purchase anything on oyster card from the ticket windows! so not thinking clearly about it I just purchased my Z1-3 travel...

Bensonby - does that ticket work in the barriers now? It's also worth remembering that that ticket cannot be used into Charring Cross like a London Terminals ticket. I find that useful at weekends and saves on Tube travel. Ah - no good for me then as I commute into Waterloo East each day and often ...

I thought that the drawback with the Victoria<>LB thing was that technically you could only use loop line trains? Or am I mistaken? Anyway, after a slightly frustrating conversation with a call centre yesterday, I went to the travel centre in Waterloo today where they generally know their onions and...

Well one silver lining is there is no fare increase on travel cards or season tickets this year! Problem with getting a ticket for a shorter period is not having a gold card - not only is there the 1/3rd off other travel, I've also got a book full of free weekend travel tickets to use which are only...

Advice for annual travelcard/season ticket holders
I'm trying to find out the best ticket to buy this year - it's not easy! I normally buy a Sydenham<>London Terminals rail-only annual season ticket (currently £428 cheaper than a Z1-3 travelcard) as I commute by rail and use PAYG for the few underground and bus journeys I make, which saves me about ...

FIGHT THE POWER!!!!!!! - or get a life !!! its not as if you have to wait 20 mins for the connection at London bridge !!! One of the reasons I've always prefered to get the direct trains from Charing Cross is because you inevitably DO end up stuck waiting at London Bridge - either because y...

Disappointing to hear the food has not improved - I've only eaten there once very shortly after the refit, and the food was truely dire. Fortunately we weren't paying (freebie to entice customers post-refit) - if I had been, I'd probably have refused to pay for some of things we were given. I visit ...

It recommends refusal but the final decision rests with the councillors who sit on the planning committee I'm glad they've seen sense - the potential impacts on traffic are clearly much greater than KICC have been trying to maintain. With the planning report recommending refusal and significant pub...

To answer my own question...I've just phoned Royal Mail, and it seems that despite having that lovely reassuring letter through our door, the Forest Hill office IS NOT open any longer than usual in the run up to Christmas. According to them it will still be closing at 1pm on weekdays and 12:3...
