Re: Been to The Greyhound yet?

In the interests of fairness, I should add that I went for a roast at The Golden Lion a couple of weeks back. If was rubbish and came half cold.

Basically Sydenham pubs seem to be going for Dulwich prices, but not coming up with the goods.

Re: Been to The Greyhound yet?

Anyway, RE The Greyhound, I've not been in yet, and p[robably won't now, because my friend has just tried and posted a photo on a plate full of the fattiest looking lamb you'll ever see, for which she paid £16. And the most pathetic tiny and burnt looking kids burger, which cost £7. If you're spendi...

Re: Been to The Greyhound yet?

For me, there is a lack of a quality venue showing the sports (Bt and Sky) Bricklayers Arms on Dartmouth Road is a solid Sydenham boozer and fantastic for sport. Agreed, Bricklayers is great, AND pretty cheap. Bird in Hand (also Dartmouth Road but Forest Hill end) is very good for sports, and is VE...

Re: Miriam Lodge Planning Application

So, which one of you has been putting slips of paper through letter boxes urging people to oppose this?

The slip in question came across very NIMBY, and whoever wrote it didn't have the manners to sign it.

Lost, Half of a Baby Bjorn sling (the strap bit)

Possibly lost in Wells Park yesterday, or a group on Jews Walk. It's the straps of a black Baby Bjorn sling. If anyone has found this, please let me know.

Thanks

I heard about this the other day. Absolutely stupid, and pretentious.

Re: local nursery recommendation

We use Cuddly Bear Day Care in Panmure Road, run by Heidi Khandji. It's a brilliant place and our 2 year old has been there since she was 9 months and loves it. We are very happy with the care and love she gets from the staff. It is more expensive than Cornerstone on Jews Walk, probably less than K...

Tried a Sunday roast in The Dolphin a few weeks ago, for the first time. Really not great to be honest Staff were very friendly and nice, but service was slow, and it wasn't busy, plus I never got my pudding despite going and asking what had happened to it. To be fair, they never tried to charge for...

Anyone know what is happening? More than one person said to me it had reopened, but it doesn't seem to have...

Can anyone recommend a decent roast in or around Sydenham? Tried The Dolphin, and frankly, it was a big let down.

Damn it, I mis the Woodman roasts from that nice Polish cook.

The wholesale price of a pint, even with taxes, can't be much more than £1.50: Wetherspoons are currently doing £1.79 for a pint of real ale as a promotion, Sam Smith's pubs up in central London still sell for under £2 a pint. Therefore £3 a pint is a rip off. Even £3 is becoming a thing of the pas...

Even though they tarted it up a bit it it was no where near the standard of the Dolphin or Dartmouth Arms in terms of decor/ambiance Seriously? I think the Dolphin is like drinking a beer in a Starbucks. Horrid place. Agree the Woodman was a bit dark and cold feeling, but I am gutted about it closi...

Got home to Station Approach about 5:15 to be told couldn't go home. Was then told to be careful where I trod near the tape as I was apparently "standing in blood"... I didn't seem to be, but I guess I wouldn't know.

Not sure what happened, but obviously not nice.

Hate to break this to you reality Czech, but East Dulwich has fried chicken shops, bits & bobs shops, and several mini "super" markets. and there are still plenty of "chavs" drinking on the High Street. They do have a Cafe Nero and a GBK (overpriced precooked shite), but ask ...

I wouldn't call Sydenham rough at all. Moved to the area about 2 years ago from East Dulwich (just down the road), and I love it. I guess some might say it looks a bit rough round the edges, and you probably wouldn't fancy walking in to any of the pubs on your own (except maybe the Dolphin), but I h...

Hiya, I'm from East Dulwich, and live in Sydenham. I post a lot on the http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/index.php , because most of my friends live down there so it is where I tend to go out. Obviously over the years I've seen ED and Lordship Lane particularly change a lot, but the fact is, y...

For those of you who've never used it, flickr.com is a fantastic site where people post their photos.

If you visit http://www.flickr.com/search and search for photos tagged Sydenham, you get some nice results, including some really nice shots of the woods.

Hello all, I am new to this forum, and actually searched for it specifically because my other half had come across this thread, and was a bit taken aback by it. I moved to Sydenham from East Dulwich (where I'm from) back in February, and for the most part, love it. However, I do feel that it's lacki...
