Re: Fox's pub

Open, serving cold beers and hot pizza. Sounds like the issues that delayed opening are affecting the kitchen, but they plan to serve a full menu in due course. Small patio garden out back which gives space for prams. Big windows make it a pleasant place to while away a few hours.

Re: Fox's pub

Scaffolding coming down today to reveal a rather splended metalworked arch over the door spelling out the Fox and Hounds. Pleasingly distinctive and a nice addition to quirky Kirky.

Storm Eunice

Tree down on Taylor's Lane by the park blocking the road. Parked car underneath looks fairly smashed at the back but no signs of anyone being in it at the time.

Re: Speed cameras on Sydenham Hill

Its certainly slowing the traffic down around it, not so much on the section past the Woodhouse towards FH. I see there is a campaign group called 20's plenty http://www.20splentyforus.org.uk/ which is pushing for this to be the default speed in all urban areas. Probably a better idea than shifting ...

Re: Meeting re Kirkdale issues?

I'd say the number of shops left unfilled is probably the key one. Now that IBS has been flushed out, it joins the Costume Shop, the ruined Windmill, the mysterious Shapes, and a bunch of boarded up properties as local monuments to the success of the gov.t's Longterm Economic Plan. Many others are f...

Re: fatal stabbing in Wells Park Road.

I also live in the Wells Park estate. This is a horrible tragedy and looking at the numbers of community members and young people gathered at the site this afternoon its clear that this murder has deeply upset everyone in the area. If nothing else this speaks to how rare and shocking this type of cr...

I believe they couldn't make a profit because of the limited footfall. Great coffee. Shame.

Re: Scaffolding

Totally agree. It's been over a year and the only time I see activity its to fix the scaffolding as after a storm. The cost to leaseholders will be horrendous. I'm baffled. Hypothetically, you could imagine a scenario where if you wanted a kickback you'd commission work, delay it indefinitely, and c...

Re: Talma Closing?

Speaking of acting... This morning I walked past The Talma, now christened The Saint George, complete with fake pub sign and St. George's flags, and a film crew. It certainly looked a bit more impressive than an art school project (at least 6 people) and a boom mic, but sadly no catering truck or le...

Talma Closing?

I just saw The Talma on Wells Park Road has large signs up saying it is protected by Live-In Guardians. Does this mean it is closing/closed? It certainly looks shut up. I've only just moved into the estate behind, but with the news on The Windmill, and The Greyhound I've been picking up on this site...
