Re: Celebrating Brexit.

We know they are insane , tell us something new. How do we get out of this debacle without making us even more a pariah around the world. Can we turn the clock back. At least in days of coalition Lib Dems would have not allowed a referendum. Sorry, it was for the benefit of the leavers on this quit...

Re: Celebrating Brexit.

But leaving the EU won't bring any of that back.
End of.

All it will do is restrict your access rather than open it further.

Demography does get misinterpreted, much like many of the facts pushed out pre-referendum.

Re: Celebrating Brexit.

I think you are as guilty as anyone of being ageist...your knuckles were also being rapped. Well done for admitting the blunder in the first place - it was actually the right decision then, and the wrong decision now - you must have had a traumatic few decades. I was responding to your suggestion a...

All - I am reluctant to intervene and move this thread to the Pub. But if the ad hominem attacks do not stop that is exactly what I will do. I appreciate that feelings are running high. But please debate the issues. Play the ball not the man. Admin. Hear, hear, Admin. Thank you. I think you are as ...

Re: Celebrating Brexit.

Such doom and gloom from a lot of Chicken Littles. Nothing has happened yet and the sky isn't falling in. All that's happened so far is that a bunch of city types and financial speculators have been playing Monopoly (sadly they're allowed play with other people's money, which like sharp knives shou...

Re: Celebrating Brexit.

Big Nige (if I may), You make it sound like the Bastille has been stormed. This will move nothing forward - it can only go backwards. Marie Antoinette is still feasting on her brioche. All said and done, there was a direct correlation between who voted for what. London is definitely different to the...

Lewisham liberal backlash: nuspeak and bullying - when labour members vote to leave Europe blame the tories , when a majority of voters want to leave Europe , tell them they are still wrong . I wonder how many of you felt like this when the ineffectual Corbyn strode out to ensure that alienated wor...

Re: Celebrating Brexit.

Completely agree with Gurka. Sadly, all that has been achieved is the replacement of one high quality Etonian with a really scary prospect of a very low quality one. I doubt that Bozzer will even try - he's so incapable of doing this. The unbelievable amount of stuff to do from here if A50 is invoke...

Re: Celebrating Brexit.

Here are a few things the EU did to our economy. Make what you like of it: Jaguar Land Rover stopped making its Defender in the UK because of EU laws on fuel emissions. It is now set to be built abroad outside the EU. In 2007 the Peugeot factory in Ryton, Coventry closed down (2,300 job losses) and...

Re: Lidl shut

Nigel, Lidl may not be the new Cadbury but you are seriously distorting reality here. Check out: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-34281559 As for quality. Lidl is far superior to Tesco and even better on many own brand things to Sainsburys. Sydenham Lidl baguettes are imho second only to the Co-o...

Re: On The Hoof for sale

I wonder why ??? There could be any number of reasons. Many of them not related to the viability of the business. I know that the bistro was a dream of the owners realised after a long time. Perhaps the reality of running a bistro open for 3 meals 7 days a week did not match the dream? Or they are ...

Re: Co-operative Food store to rebrand as a Budgens store

Considering that's 3 people now who have particularly praised the fresh bread from the Co-op bakery it has made me realize that a bakery is the one shop we don't have in Sydenham... not counting the cake shop. The 'cake' shop is actually a full bakery. Sells bread and savoury pastries as well as ca...

Re: Co-operative Food store to rebrand as a Budgens store

It's weird isn't it, how this store seems to have changed repeatedly. I am not sure if that is a sign of health or ill-health frankly, but I guess as it was part of the group it is sold in specie as opposed to as an individual. From a selfish point of view, it does mean we get another fit out and cl...
