Re: Social distancing on the High Road

There are some people who just won’t respect the rules. On the other hand pavements are too narrow in many places, which is the problem when our towns and cities are given over to cars and pollution...

Re: PFC Penge Food Centre Sydenham Road

I doubt anything will change with PFC - assuming they're not behaving themselves - unless their business falls off a cliff or they get prosecuted or threatened with prosecution. And the latter relies on us, as consumers, reporting to Trading Standards. You'd have to make sure you had as much evidenc...

Sydenham Grand Prix

What’s with all the high speed racing around Sydenham today? Sounds like bikes or F1 cars doing a circuit repeatedly... I’m off Westwood Hill.

Re: Estate agents boards

The boards are very useful on allotments for suppressing weeds, building compost bins etc. The posts can build netting cages. I’d happily take them

Re: Mural?

In Sydenham everyone feels they have to have a say in everything, and if they don’t get it they see conspiracy everywhere. It’s a bit sad really. I mean, we’re talking a mural here not the future of local housing services

The short-lived waffle place is becoming Saigon Cafe, offering Vietnamese street food. Sounds promising... They were doing signage today.

Re: New shops on Kirkdale

There was an opening party at the cakes place on Sunday. Quite comical seeing so many trying to cram in to such a small space. But I wish them well!

Re: Begging around Sainsburys Local

Worth noting that one of our neighbourhood PCs has written this elsewhere regarding the aggressive begging: "We have been working closely over the last few weeks with Bellingham SNT, as we have been made aware of aggressive beggars around Bell Green. ...these individuals have been frequenting Sydenh...

Re: Where do people dispose of their lightbulbs?

RecoLight have low energy light bulb recycling points but round our neck of the woods they're only at the main council recycling centres, which is absolutely no use at all for those of us who don't drive. Shops are more than happy to sell us this stuff but not to do their bit and collect it. No wond...

Ignition Brewery on Radio 4

Our local brewery is the subject of The Food Programme on Radio 4 this week.

To quote the programme blurb: Brewer and broadcaster Jaega Wise visits breweries where a progressive approach to employing people with learning disabilities is pouring away preconceptions

Re: Activity in old Coop

I don’t recall anyone saying that the planning application had been approved so I’m not surprised activity has stopped. I imagine it was exploratory work and nothing significant would happen until a decision.

Re: Sydenham Estate agents

We had a dispute with Pedder, who revealed confidential information to everyone in our street and tried to ignore us until we complained to the Information Commissioner.

So we will never use them again.

We would consider one of the online groups instead - they’re so much cheaper.

Entertainers wanted

Hi all Our residents' association in Sydenham holds a summer party in June and we're always on the lookout for musicians, jugglers, magicians and so on to provide entertainment during the course of the afternoon. We can give a small sum in return for your efforts but we don't have much money to spar...
