Bensonby - you are correct. At peak periods there will be 6 Southern trains and 8 ELL trains, therefore 14 trains per hour in each direction or a train approx every four minutes calling at each platform. Barty - you are correct in warning us about services from Sydenham to East Croydon. The new Sout...

You are correct Weeble. The new East London Line trains are designed to carry up to 33% more passengers than similar length trains such as those currently operating to London Bridge. Each ELL carriage has room for 175 passengers, so a four-carriage train will hold 700 passengers. How do they achieve...

New East London Line trains revealed

Here are some photos of the new London Underground trains - virtually identical to the trains which will run on our line when the ELL line arrives.(the ELL trains will be four carriages long). Sorry about the pics of Boris! http://londonist.com/2009/07/in_pictures_mayor_unveils_new_londo.php?gallery...

For goodness sake Bensonby, throw away those old law books you used when at Manchester University and apply some commonsense and basic observation. No drinking zones have been applied all over the country including Penge. The police then enforce a no drinking policy - and they work. That's what peop...

SA Festival unveils new talent

For me the low point of the SAF was the man who had to be apprehended after he tried to run off with the “tips bowl” sitting in front of Peter the visually impaired singer who sang and played keyboards outside the bookshop on the opening Saturday. The high point was to discover that Peter will short...

Numbers attending vitually every event were extremely high. For example, Amaretti Angels which you mention Richie, was sold out well in advance of the start of the festival and a further perfomance had to be scheduled on Sunday lunchtime. Other events such as French Songs and Berlin Cabaret were ful...

What a great job Sydenham Radio are doing in covering the Festival. I had my doubts about whether I would tune in - but I've found myself listening to every clip. Check it out at the link below: http://sydenhamradio.co.uk/site/news What a piece of misjustice at Sydenham's Got Talent last night! The ...

Photography - Street Exhibition

A"street" exhibition of local photography is now running in Sydenham Road and Forest Hill centre as part of the Sydenham Arts Festival. Screens in the windows of Kirkdale Bookshop, ICT Computers, Arbico Computers (opposite The Dolphin) and Robert Stanford in FH are showing photographs whic...

Gosh - you ARE desperate to get swimming at Willow Way Gaz! So your advice to the Mayor would be simple. Having twisted the questions to favour Willow Way and still not having got the result he wants, the Mayor should now simply ignore any of the consultation results which don't favour this option. ...

Robin - It was the overture to Rossini's "The Italian Girl in Algiers".

Agree with you - what a wonderful concert and what a series of concerts this year. All, except one, totally sold out I understand.

Fishcox - The Machrays (not Mackays) property is being leased. This shop is owned by someone who runs and owns other properties in the high street. In prder to avoid "direct " ownership of this property he has set up a separate company of which he is a director. You must make up your own m...

Before everyone works themselves up into a fury about this, can I point out that the Cobb's Corner roundabout will be rebuilt as part of the Sydenham Road Improvement Scheme - and that the rebuilt roundabout will be "greened". As Pat Trembath has pointed out in a separate thread, an exhibi...

Merely expressing my own view. My motives are none other than wishing to see Sydenham Road improved and the site developed. I believe that the current plan is a good one. Let me repeat my previous statement - if this plan is rejected then the site will remain in its present state for many years. I a...

Biscuit - great idea. So why not go and organise such an "exhibition" in one of the empty shops? I've played a small part in getting shopkeepers to display art and photographs as part of the upcoming Arts Festival. There should be no reason why you shouldn't be able to carry out your idea ...
