Re: Audi garage now Arnold Clark

And no doubt they’ll run it for a year or two then give up again. It’s a huge site and could be better used as residential plus retail.

Re: Pret a Manger Post-pandemic Expansion Plan

Surely better than yet another nail bar or chicken shop? I doubt it would get the footfall a Pret needs though - yes there will be more people working from home now but you can make a Pret sandwich yourself in your own kitchen. If you’re going out for lunch you want cooked food that Pret doesn’t sup...

Re: Blackbird Bakery

Interesting that Slatters are going for residential round the back - shame they closed I think as they employed quite a lot of people, but guess the owners had enough? Went into Blackbird - not cheap for what you get, but nice enough, and I guess it’s a step up for the neighbourhood. Interesting con...

Re: Blackbird Bakery

Was wondering the same - but that’s a very big site when you include the bits behind the shop so I wonder if Blackbird would need it.

Shame about the old bakery - I quite liked its old school feel and it did very good doughnuts.

Boundary commission - Sydenham to combine with Dulwich

New constituency boundaries for consultation - Sydenham, Bellingham, Perry Vale and Forest Hill combine with Dulwich to form new Dulwich and Sydenham constituency. Sounds posher than Lewisham West and Penge, though I probably have more interaction with Penge than with Dulwich to be honest. https://b...

Re: Covid Vaccination- Sydenham Green Group Practice

No, I get what you’re saying in the sense of ‘who cares if they jump the queue a bit - they’d get it anyway’ but there is surely a risk that if these people don’t get turned away then when the crunch arrives next month then those who were expecting second doses will find themselves with cancelled ap...

Re: Covid Vaccination- Sydenham Green Group Practice

You mean you click the link and it tells you who you are, or you enter your DoB and it then comes up with your name? If the latter then it doesn’t seem like the link is unique - and does Sydenham Green have the tech to generate unique links for all eligible patients? I have it first hand from someon...

Re: Covid Vaccination- Sydenham Green Group Practice

I get what you’re saying re: not wasting doses but no one (at least officially) should be inviting under 50s for jabs unless they have underlying health conditions - government has been pretty clear that there will be a national slowdown in April because of supply issues. Doses can only be wasted on...

Re: Covid Vaccination- Sydenham Green Group Practice

If the under 50s are getting jabbed then it’s under the table - there’s no government permission to do this yet, so Sydenham Green are skating on thin ice. I am in the next cohort (delayed to May according to official announcements) and if rumours of queue jumping by much younger people armed with a...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic

I agree that there might be better uses of the money but both those roads are rat runs at the moment and I have lost count of the times someone has nearly run me over at the junction of Silverdale and Sydenham Road in particular. As for school safety, I think better than crossings would be some enfo...

Re: PFC Penge Food Centre Sydenham Road

They’re definitely gouging - don’t go there often but their prices have rocketed since lockdown started. Not sure it’s a sensible long term tactic - they have plenty of local competition in the form of both the regular supermarkets and similar ‘ethnic’ places (though I do sometimes wonder whether th...

Re: Camping in Mayow Park?

Yes, I wasn’t hoping they would simply be booted out - was posting it here in the hope that the Councillors who look at this would see it (but sort of assuming that the people who maintain the Park would report it upwards anyway). It clearly isn’t appropriate for people to camp in a park - especiall...

Camping in Mayow Park?

Anyone know whose tent it is, pitched next to the tennis courts? Has been there for a couple of days at least.

Slightly concerned that someone is so desperate as to camp in the park, but also assuming that if someone was doing this they would be moved on?

Re: Speeding around the thorpes

Get this all the time late at night with the speeders using my street as a cut through. On the plus side, the ugly gang of sods on quad bikes and scooters who used to go up and down the high street running lights seems to have vanished - perhaps some of them are serving time (hope so anyway).

Re: Begging around Sainsburys Local

There’s another quite aggressive older guy who wanders up and down the high street telling people he needs to get the money together for a hostel place - 50ish white bloke with grey/white stubble. Quite nicely dressed for a beggar. Gets quite pushy when told (politely) that the answer’s no. Tries to...

Re: Mad Dough

Just round the corner so will give it a go, but I worry they’ll struggle because the passing trade isn’t that great in that location compared to the high street and food places down here have struggled historically (apart from the takeaways further down with their very annoying habit of parking on t...
