This ain't Soho - if businesses spend too much on their frontage they'd go bust! Gurkha's is a fine example of an Indian restaurant in a suburban High Street. I went in there on Saturday had an excellent 2 course meal for £5.50 with no hassle, no loud music, etc. They've just invested in brighter in...

I agree with PP - Jim Dowd is an MP responsible for small shops, we should be lobbying him. I think a few chain stores/restaurants would pull other small traders into Sydenham Road, but in my experience, the smaller cafes and bistros have a better customer service. Usually the owners are at the fron...

But Admin, can I draw your attention to the thread following the Forum poll? Many postings of a similar nature there: Quote from Bovine Juice: It has to be Ken. Boris may be an affable buffoon but to be honest I don't really want a buffoon running London... Quote from Poppy: Who really wants that bu...

Oh stop whingeing everyone  Ken's gone and it's a new administration - files have been shredded and deleted by Ken and it's a new start. We'll see this in the US in November, too. Be positive - Boris is going to want to retain votes in Croydon and Bromley and will thus improve transport into L...

That's very true. Very well illustrated, without mentioning any candidates, or the party you represent! But you don't have to give a second vote. Why bother voting for C at all?!! I would prefer not to vote for an MP but somebody who would represent their own policies and not their parties. He certa...

Has anyone tried Vote Match?

I hope this Sydenham Town Forum poll doesn't give some indication of the results - only 38 of us have voted!!!

It's been like that for about a week - don't get too excited I think it's to stop the idots parking there illegally. At least it will stop the rubbish gathering in there.

It looks like a cover-up to me. Why are all the Councillors quiet? Jim Dowd MP? Labour don't want to admit the NHS is failing us! I had a chat to Alex Feakes (Forest Hill - Lib Dem) and he is urging everyone to vote for option 2. Although this is the most expensive option, but the safest. He said it...

This is hardly "breaking news for Sydenham", is it? It looks like you just copy and pasted the whole posting from another website.

Can't you discuss national items elsewhere? Is there any need for you display every single closure? Anyway, it was covered well in the news yesterday.

Well that'll be bad news for Kirkdale Books and The Stationery Box.
2 independent traders killed off in one go.

Purely tongue in cheek.....

I think Waitrose would much rather spread out throughout the country, especially the SouthWest (there are none west of Okehampton) and towards Scotland.

Website which speculates where Waitrose will open stores:

Pride of Lewisham

On reading the se23.com website, I noticed our neighbours are busy voting for their favourite place in Lewisham: http://www.ukprideofplace.com/promo/voted/?reg=26&laid=230 Hurry, it finishes on Friday! Let's "Big up" Sydenham! (PS. you can only do it once on each email address, but if ...

Can I ask who laid the carpet in the first place? Was it a carpet specialist? Couldn't they come back to correct it?

We used A&B Carpets a few years ago and they came back to correct some laying with no problem.

You're right - our brilliant small local firms have the best customer service!

I think the council are taking safety solutions on Sydenham Road seriously, but they are dragging their heels at the moment IMHO. There are apparently 3 design solutions on the drawing board, which includes lights on the railway bridge and equal spacing of crossings in the 3 main zones of Sydenham R...
