The external makeover for Nandos looks really, really good and it's nice that they are going for something that isn't the usual bog standard big brand, generic signage and window displays.
Cobs Corner is going to look amazing with The Greyhound and Nandos. What an entrance to Sydenham!

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
The painted sign is looking great. So is the new addition to the building. It's a real victory for all those who helped save the pub and a great looking welcome to Sydenham.
Re: Mural?
I too totally support what Jon has just said. Funnily enough, when the bridge was proposed as a potential site for artwork, Chris Best was against it, saying 'it would be distracting for drivers' (which is frankly, ludicrous). So she has changed her tune on that. And I agree, she should be supportin...

Not according to the details online Pat: The property is held on a lease for a term of 10 years from September 2014 with one rent review at the end of the fifth year. There are tenant only break clauses in September 2018 and September 2022. The current rental is £24,000 p.a. excl. Rates are about an...

Re: 154-158 Sydenham Road
I wrote in favour of it. I think the plans look good. Are we sure the Sydenham Society has objected? If they have, can they explain why? Compared to most things built in Sydenham this is far superior scheme, the sort that should be encouraged, both for its design and for the fact that it offers 'aff...

It's £24k a year for 1,220.00 square feet. Per square foot it's cheaper than a place under the same Estate Agents in the run down Knights Hill in West Norwood and much much less than another place they have in Tooting. http://www.smithprice.co.uk/properties/shops-to-let/30-Sydenham-Road-London-SE26-...

They are serviced offices and currently for rent. I'm not sure if this includes the ground floor.

Re: New yoga studio?
This is an opportunity for new blood to come into the high street, if the right businesses fill these empty spaces, help existing businesses and create organic regeneration of Sydenham Road. I don't see it as a negative. I know that sounds strange, but empty shops are always the start of regeneratio...
Re: Mural?
I don't think the parked cars matter and it's just a distraction. People walk in front of it too, buses drive in front of some murals. Yes JMLF, go for it. The wall has some nice natural panels in it. Relevant, beautiful artworks in there could look fantastic and brighten up Station Approach. This w...
Re: Mural?
That would need permission from TFL. We got permission for the sign we did for On The Hoof. We were looking at this at one point, it would be a great place for public art to cover the ugly concrete panels. There is currently an enamel sign there for the trains. Creating signs to reflect this sign in...
Re: Mural?
That's true. It would need scaffolding and a scaffolding license which could push the price up by about 50%.
Re: Mural?
Yes, they are Tim.
We advised See3 as advisors to the Mayor of London on high street regeneration on suitable sites (which is why the Kirkdale ones went ahead) and this is one of the sites we picked.
We had already designed something for there and got verbal permission from the Landlords.

All takeaways complain about just eat etc. Although they don't complain about the extra trade it brings them. Everything in business has a cost. being listed in a directory etc.I"ve read about takeaways getting 14x their normal orders through hungryhouse. These apps take around 15-20% commissio...
Re: Mural?
The 'Turdis' may have an anti-graffiti coating on it. We were working on a stall as part of a high street regeneration scheme in Uxbridge made of a similar material and couldn't do much with it because of the coating.
I'd check that first.

Re: Mural?
This shouldn't be the case though. Lewisham has a public art policy: https://www.lewisham.gov.uk/inmyarea/arts/info-and-marketing/Documents/PublicArtStrategy2011.pdf There should be no need to get the permission of the Sydenham Society or local councillors on every matter. But they should support lo...

I agree, it has to be a traders group mostly, if not totally, run by traders (I never said it should be otherwise, just to be clear).
Re: Mural?
The Sydenham Transmitter used to be the logo for the Sydenham Society, which I always thought was odd as it's the Crystal Palace Transmitter, not Sydenham (which I why I redesigned the Sydenham Society logo and masterhead to omit it). There was talk of a local identity based on the first known symbo...

Re: A Sydenham traders association
Outside of traders, maybe the forum could support something much like “The Penge Tourist Board” does every year with voted awards resulting in nice colourful window sticker awards. I’m not sure if the Crystal Palace sticker plaques resulted from locals/forum or council. The Blue Plaques are the bra...

The Mayow Park did great things despite being independent of the council and Sydenham Society and other parks. Friends Of Home Park achieved a lot despite being independent of the council, Sydenham Society and other parks. It's the same story with the Library and other local assets like Dacres wood....
