Re: Sydenham under a new flight path?
Just to say that I used to notice the 6am one (loud enough to wake me up if nearing wakefulness); for two or three months now, the 5.30am one as well as a 6am one. Can't say I've noticed daytime noise from those I see, being South->North over Bell Green(?) and West->East over/towards Forest Hill. So...

Re: zigghy coffea shop
sydenhamboy, in my view, it might be that things have to cost that much to cover overheads, especially rent & rates, but I can't see me queuing outside, or mums/dads with kids, at £3.55 per head for a basic cup of tea/coffee and slice of cake. Maybe the food, which you say you didn't try, offers...

sydenhamboy, you don't mention pricing. Would you say it's reasonable for what's offered? From what you say, it doesn't seem to be aimed at high-end customers with concomitant loaded pricing.

Re: Ella Kissi-Debrah - A Very Sad Death & a Welcome Reversal
I'm not surprised being one who can't cope with diesel fumes easily at all. People can help by not sitting stationary with engines running plus TFL either could or should do better to "keep London moving" which it claims to but clearly doesn't in the Bell Green to Forest Hill route (and el...

The colour is fine, but is it necessary to have the scrolling effect on the icons next to each thread? I can't stand things moving onscreen and if this remains I will not be able to spend much time here. Do you mean the circles on the left with the lines scrolling? Do yours still scroll even after ...

Re: rubbish collector
Hi, I can't recommend anyone but I noticed a van parked close by (so presumably doing something for someone) with the name on the side: http://www.hgfgroup.co.uk/ and phone 020 7018 0031, which is different from the one on their website. Rubbish is expensive to clear as businesses are charged a lot ...

Re: Funds needed for Sydenham Library Roof
Is there really not even £300 in the council's coffers for essential repairs to a community library that''s already been abandoned to sink or swim? It's hardly money desired for fripperies or enhancements when it's for essential repairs. Words fail me. Is there a donations box on the library counter?

I can't recommend anyone but there are a lot of gas-safe engineers listed for Sydenham area who are on the Gas Safe Register (which is the new name since 2009 for Corgi gas engineers). https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/find-an-engineer/ Hopefully one of them will also be qualified for electrical wir...

I find the "prosilver" skin option (via User Control Panel -> Board Preferences) suits my eyes better so immediately switched to that; thankfully the alternative option is still available. No doubt the default colour will appeal, perhaps more so if just STF is on the screen, so not needing...

You could ask Sydenham DIY Tel: 020 8776 7020 near Sydenham station as they're affiliated with a plumbing shop and one or the other could probably offer a name. Assuming it might well take two visits, perhaps check pricing first in case an hourly minimum charge would apply. I'm surprised a flooring ...

Thanks Manwithaview1; I'm sure you could be right. It's not easy to determine if catchy snippets that buzz around in one's head all day are self standing or are an extracted bit (unless you already recognise the sampled bit). Love the Boogie "star jump" crab move. Perfect move and music wh...

Thank you for your replies everyone. Would we all agree that whether supportive of a proposal or not, it’s in everybody’s interests that decisions being taken are transparent and clear? I’m sure I’m not the only one who doesn’t want a situation where major decisions – for or against – are being tak...

Re: LEWISHAM COUNCIL PLANNING ENFORCEMENT DESPAIR
Looking at the building control page on reporting a dangerous structure, it seems that anyone can report it, they don't have to live there. I will report it tomorrow, and if some more people also report it, it might be a quicker way of getting a response than a physical demo. Multiple complaints sh...

Re: LEWISHAM COUNCIL PLANNING ENFORCEMENT DESPAIR
If it does transpire that you should indeed move out, either sooner or later, it might be worth finding out beforehand who will pay the temporary rental and getting their confirmation in writing and quickly. I'm sorry this adds another question rather than solving anything.

Re: Wooden Flooring company
Have you had the wettened floor and underneath checked to make sure it's dry enough to lay a floor directly on top? In a different place, my washing machine flooded the floor to 1 or 2" deep, which I just mopped up. It turned out that water had gone down the edges and caused dry rot, needing th...
