ALIB - Parking warden didn't need to rush into Cheseman Street to put ticket on the car on the double yellow lines - it's still there 24 hours later! :?

I'll be there too - hope it proves to be really popular.

Is the car park at the back of Iceland still really creepy and badly lit? I wouldn't mind doing most of my shopping along the main road if I could park somewhere - I hope to have too many bags to take home on the bus .....

I don't want the prices to go up but thought it might encourage the 'fighters in our midst' to go elsewhere - ie a cheaper pub. The new managers really are doing their best to make the place welcoming but unfortunately one of them was beaten up on Friday night for his trouble!

Another big fight in there on Friday night apparently! The Windmill could be a lovely pub if they went slight upmarket - put in some nice furniture, e.g. sofas, armchairs etc., and put up the prices. It could be the nicest pub around the Kirkdale area.

Windmill Pub, Kirkdale

Anyone noticed the 'For Sale' notice outside the Windmill pub? Hope it doesn't go the same way as the Woodman!

I have to get to Gatwick airport on Boxing Day - apparently I will have to get a train to West Croydon, bus to Coulsdon South and then another bus to Gatwick from there! Estimated time of travel two and a half to three hours

What nonsense! I have been turfed off the 176 (designation Penge) more times than I care to remember at Dulwich Plough and Forest Hill - neither place feeling particularly safe for a lone woman on a dark night! It often seemed to me that the driver just didn't feel like going any further and either ...

I agree with Sean - I look forward to Tesco's coming. The more the merrier. That part of Kirkdale is now like no man's land! Shabby horrible shops (those that are open).

I travel on the 176 everyday to and from work. At least six times a month on my journey home, the bus terminates at Dulwich Plough or Forest Hill when it is clearly designated to go to Penge. It really is most annoying, especially during the winter.

Could you leave a few copies in Wooster & Stock estate agents at the top of Kirkdale please? I am sure they would be happy to leave it on general display at they do with South East Living. Many people to seem to forget that Sydenham actually begins (or ends) at Cheseman Street (off Dartmouth Roa...

Woodmans Pub - Kirkdale

Just noticed yesterday that the Woodmans Pub at the top of Kirkdale has closed down. Anyone know what is happening to it?

The Fox and Hounds on the next corner closed down a couple of months ago (corner of Kirkdale and Wells Park Road) so we only have the dismal Windmill to drink in now.

Ahem - so why all the fuss in earlier posts about the change of name and building work being carried out? I know it was once used as a hostel for asylum seekers but haven't seen any of them for absolutely ages.

Well, I finally found out what has happened to the old police section house located behind the police station in Dartmouth Road. It's a 120 room hostel for the homeless! http://miriamlodge.com/miriam.swf I live opposite and was never consulted or saw anything about planning permission - did anyone e...
