The LDs have a good local councillor in Beckenham Town (Chloe) who was their candidate for the whole constituency but people will have recognised this was a two horse race and many would have voted Labour ...

The thing about local councillors is that many aren't really political. The colour of the rosette isn't always a reflection of their world views. Some people just want to crack on and get things done and backing of a political party is often just a convenient way of getting elected.

That's why the name is so wrong. It's Beckenham and Penge. It's Penge (and Anerley and Clock House) that makes it marginal. Left to its own devices ...

As many of you know this great pub is only yards from the border with Sydenham and serves many of you in normal times. Due to lockdown though, it is currently struggling to survive. It is truly independent and has no pub company to subsidise it. It would be a tragic loss to the community.
