We had a lantern that was hooked to the front door and would be difficult to take off without making noise. They got that too. Princethorpe as well.

I actually loved that place when it was a Turkish restaurant. The food was great and the interior was fine. When they changed to Mexican I walked in and started speaking to the owner in spanish. It was a bit of a joke becasue I knew him as the Turkish guy own ran the place before. THe Mexican place ...

Yesterday when entering the park by the pavilion I saw that they were digging up all the shrubs and the lawn area to the left of of the entrance. Anyone know what that is and if they had put up any signage that this work was going to be happening?

Greenie, like I said, I meant no ill will - Honestly! So why try to double back and refer to my comments as negative? I think you both are being a bit unfair!

Iris,
I meant no disrespect. You are very out of line accusing me of pompous insensitivity.
Charming!

Its a shame the fair wasn't better sign posted. I walked out of the park and saw the sign. I thought how odd it was that it was over then realized that it was back behind the pavilion. I think many people may have missed it. Yesterday morning the sign ‘Christmas Reefs for sale’ was up and that seeme...

Simon any clue what happened to the dogs that were removed from that house? My understanding is that under current laws that would have all be euthanized. That is very sad! There's a problem with organized dog fighting in some areas in New York. I saw a great sign that I think says it all - Punish t...

What does the amount of dogs one walks have to do with anything? This law is so ridiculous. I have a friend who walks her 5 dogs everyday. They are well behaved and under control. She always picks up after them. Is someone going to tell her she can’t walk her dogs together anymore? These sweeping bl...

Very sad. I was just there on Saturday and thought "I need to use this place more often". The guy told me that they use the same suppliers and products as the really posh butcher on Lordship Lane. It was a bit rough on the edges and that tower block across the street is truly scary!!! Stil...

I totally agree with you G-Man. I can’t say enough good things about the place. The owner really understands service and costumer relations. He always makes us welcome and remembered us from our first time there. We go quite regularly and feel that it is the best place on the highstreet – a close se...

Nothing will deter these foxes. I have 2 greyhounds and one hot summer night a few years ago we stupidly left the back door open for them to get in and out during the night – yes it was stupid. We were woken up during the night by a huge commotion. Our male greyhound started racing around the house....

My vote’s a No! I think the folks who spear-headed the idea did a really wonderful job in getting their ideas together and have a lot of enthusiasm about it, but I’ve said it before… it will look like exactly what it will be… an afterthought, a way of trying to ‘fix’ the thing. I really think that, ...

That assembly meeting was a sambolic disgrace. I’m so glad to see so many people opposing the voting and the way Cllr Best dealt with it. I was the person who asked if they could simply knock £2000 off the proposal of the mosaic so that all the projects could get funded. She shut me down is abruptly...

Personally I don’t think a mosaic is what the building needs – I’ve seen them in other areas – they usually end up looking like a exactly what they are – an after thought. I love lee’s suggested facelift. I use to live near Swiss cottage. They had an awful library built in the same style as that cen...

user 100's post doesn't even merit a response. However, a friend suggested we leaflet the area. I’m willing to contribute to the cost of printing and will put some time aside to distribute them if someone will create a document. I would suggest a pic of the old and the new and a brief description of...

If they have destroyed the old shop and the leaded glass frontage, I will whole-heartedly boycott any shop that goes in there. I will tell everyone I know in the area not to go and would even go so far as to stand in front of the dammed place with a sign telling people not to use it. Hit’em where it...

Proposed ‘Containers’ for mayow park

I’ve just seen that there are plans to build a bunch of containers in mayow park to house the bowling club. The obvious question is why are they doing this when there’s a disused building that would cost a lot less to fix up a bit? Does anyone have information about this?

This is more then taking out the windows. If you go to the side door and peek in you can see the entire front is gone. It would be really great if it’s been taken out for a spruce but seems a bit odd.

I don’t want to divert from the theme of this thread but there’s been a similar situation in the Thorpes. There’s a house that is owned by the housing authority. A few weeks back they removed all the sash windows and replaced them with really ugly PVC windows. It is truly amazing that the council ca...
