I'm amazed it was even reported! LOADS of things go on round here that never make it to the news. Anyone remember the murder by shooting on Silverdale back in 1998 I think it was? I saw a machete attack on the high street a few years ago. The High Street has been blocked off for several "incidents" ...

I know someone who is on a street being piloted. It's like when the recycling boxes appeared and nobody knew what you could put in them and then when they were able to accept plastics in the recycling boxes but didn't tell us! I hope they extend it to all streeets as it would be a big help although ...

Great link paget.

I think the new bus lane makes the road really dangerous although as it is a busy road and loads of buses go along I suppose it must be helping the traffic (not seen eveidence of that myself mind!)

I shall now travel along the bus lane when the traffic is backed up along Kirkdale.

Not sure exactly what is happening with Zucker. Heard rumours another cafe was opening but maybe plans on hold now because of Blue Mountain Cafe. I liked the food and drink at Zucker but always thought they could have done more with the inside somehow. I didn't mind the mismatched furniture but I am...

Although I don't particularly like big retail developments I think having something like that there may actually help that particular part of Sydenham. The shops there may start to get the passing trade they don't get at the moment.

I wondered about that as I'd seen For Sale signs. It's such a shame. I've always liked the fact that it was there and the staff have always been really friendly and helpful - things like at Christmas, taking my cards for posting when they're shut!

I haven't looked at the website and I haven't tried a session. However I know a couple of women who have joined up and really like it.

Are either of these rumours true?

I've heard 2 rumours this week about the Greyhound pub site:

1. It is going to become a Tesco Local or Metro or whatever
2. Pub and car park will become a block of flats

Anyone know if either of these are true?

Is the pub a listed building?

Anyone remember the butcher that used to be at the top of Kirkdale? They were good. Will go and check this place out. Has it been there a long time?

Dog Walkers

Can anyone recommend a RELIABLE dog walker? Need someone to walk a dog every week day in the middle of the day. The dog is old now so doesn't need an hour. When a puppy the whole hour was needed. Manages about 20 minutes now.

Thanks

I like the set up on the Dolphin a lot. The garden is gorgeous and somewhere I have been to me on my own for an afternoon drink and a read of papers and magazines. I don't really drink beer so can't talk from personal experience but husband likes it! HOWEVER, I don't think the food is "all that". We...

I like the idea of your cafe. Sounds similar to Moonbow Jakes which is a nice place to hang out - I've only been a couple of times but mean to go more!

I think tenner for a lunch is a lot on a "school day"! On a weekend meeting friends though I would probably pay that for food and a drink.

I would love to see a coffee bar that opens in the evening. I'm not a commuter but early opening would be good for commuters and good for business I bet! Echo what people say about Domali - lovely food, crap service a lot of the time! Having a few staples would be good (nice sarnies, jacket potatote...

You could try the gyms at LA Fitness or Gymophobics - there may be an instructor available to do that slot.

Have mentioned on another thread, try the 2 Turkish restaurants. Have been a loyal eater at Lokal for several years and used to love the belly dancing on Saturday evening. Haven't been since the re-furb and new management took over but have heard it is still as good. The new Turkish place The Fez is...

Road Works

Is it just me or do we seem to have had more than our fair share of dug up roads recently? In the past 2 years it seems to have been particularly bad - the high street, end of Silverdale, Cobbs corner, Kirkdale etc. Can anyone tell me what it's all about?
