Re: Boot Sale on Sunday
My car boot sale quest continues. I turned up at the 2nd Sydenham Community Car Boot Sale on Sunday, 8th July with husband in tow in a car full of stuff as well but it was rained off. Torrential rain. Most of the day. They're aiming for a 3rd in September (I think the 9th) so watch this space! Still...

I love this bakery far too much than is good for me!
Their chocolate almond croissants are amazing. Their tarts are also good.

Re: Serious Incident? 19th July
What a relief to hear the cyclist is ok. I hadn't heard a cyclist was involved when I posted this morning and when I read the post saying it was a cyclist I feared the worst particularly as there were so many police cars. A former student of mine was knocked off his bike earlier this year and killed...

Serious Incident? 19th July
I am just curious if anyone knows what happened on Sydenham Road last night. My husband said part of the road by Kwik Fit and the Alfred pub there were blocked off (7.30/8 ish?) and there was an ambulance and police cars. When I drove past it on my way home about 8.30 last night there were 6 or 7 po...

Re: Boot Sale on Sunday
If I was the baking sort I'd definitely bake a few cakes to lure the punters over to my stall! They did look good though but as I had banned myself from buying anything at all I didn't sample them.
@ Chris thanks for the info about the cost of the next boot sale. Good news all round I think.

Re: Boot Sale on Sunday
Out of interest I have just had a look on carboot junction and seen lots of car boots in London. What is interesting is that it lists the prices and the facilities available - not sure why I hadn't seen all of this before. Practically all of them have refreshments and toilets which Girton Road car p...

Re: Boot Sale on Sunday
Perhaps if enough people show interest in a boot sale but aren't prepared to pay £15 (and let the organisers know) they will drop the price.

Re: Boot Sale on Sunday
I made it there and was very glad the rain held off! I didn't sell very much so my car looks almost as full as when I went there and my house still looks like a hoarder's heaven! However, at least I covered the pitch fee and made a little bit of profit. @ Postman - I wonder if you bought anything fr...

@ Annie - The situation is SO bad that I am seriously considering doing a drive sale or just opening up my front door and asking for offers!

It seems well used and the courts seem to be in good condition. My nephew did 2 weeks of tennis activities there last summer holidays and loved it!

@ Eagle - if your house looked like mine you would be VERY excited at the prospect of a car boot sale to clear it out!!!

Re: Car bot sales SE23/SE26 or Near
I am very excited at the prospect of a car boot sale in Sydenham on Sunday. I have LOADS of stuff to sell so I can move around in my house (currently resembling one of those hoarder's houses shown on TV programmes - I am not exagerating here!). Fingers crossed for the weather and lots of buyers.

I am pretty sure I have seen a poster advertising this service through Lewisham Council. Anyone able to shed light?

There seems to be an increase in these types of businesses everywhere, along with betting shops, pawn shops and sell your gold places. Sadly a sign of the times?

It seems a bit weird having a Homebase AND a B&Q. To be honest I thought the plans had been shelved when all the flats started going up. Most disappointed there will be a McDonalds.

That's excellent as it seemed that we moved backwards when they changed the policy a few years ago - anyone else remember recycling plastics with a 1 or 2 in the triangle?

Re: 3 MOBILE PHONE SIGNAL IN SYDENHAM
I've recently moved to 3 from O2 and think my signal has actually improved. I regularly didn't have a signal with O2 in some parts of my place and in others it varied. Now with 3 it goes occasionally but not often. On aside, I've always found Crystal Palace a problem but with 3 it hasn't been at all.

Re: Somewhere for Sunday lunch in Beckenham?
I've always fancied trying La Rascasse.
This is too late now but the Toby Carvery Elmers End isn't too far away from Beckenha - a few minutes by car. Good value.
