Re: Freeview reception problems?

Oh, right, thanks. I hadn't seen any notification of that.

Yes, still using the ring aerial.

Re: Freeview reception problems?

It's been really bad again the past few days: surely can't all be the weather? Tonight I had a "no service" message for ages, and I had to watch the ITV news because the BBC one was so garbled. Channel 4 also quite bad.

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic

Point is to encourage people to walk, how about charging children again for using buses etc. Maybe then buses will be less packed at peak times and it will encourage parents "little angels" to actually walk more. I thought they were already doing that, along with preventing pensioners from travelli...

Re: moving to Sydenham

There ought to be quite a few modern (and not so modern) 2-bed flats within that price range. Certainly there were a while ago, pre-lockdown.

Re: Tax refund scam

HMRC now has a specific email address for you to forward scam emails to so that they can be dealt with, doesn't it? Or is it the government in general?

About time, since it seems that barely anyone is paying attention to the requirement.

Re: Local public transport and face coverings

Well, yes, we probably should. I was wrong to use the term "masks", I suppose, but I was getting fed up with typing "face coverings" :) Most people are going to have some sort of scarf, T-shirt, bandana or whatever which they can use to cover their nose, mouth and chin - that was what I meant. BTW, ...

Re: Local public transport and face coverings

None of the double deckers I've been on recently - 185, 176, 197, are charging. 176 and 197 were on the list charging as of last Saturday - although if you got a Boris bus on the 176 route you should have been able to touch in anyway as there are readers at the centre and rear doors. I'm seriously ...

Re: Local public transport and face coverings

Unconfirmed reports this morning (Monday) that TfL have introduce measures to limit the numbers of passengers permitted on a bus at one time to improve separation. They announced it late last week, I think - but I thought the limit was 20 on double-deckers. I saw a 54 in Beckenham at the weekend wi...

Re: Local public transport and face coverings

I guess that must be it. I wonder why anyone thinks it's over? Wait for the infections to start rising again ... And, two days ago, on a 358, I was the only one out of 7 actually wearing a face covering. I haven't got used to checking for more than simply the number of passengers before I get on a b...

Re: rubbish outside penge station

It was absolutely disgusting by the down-platform entrance a few days ago. I'm sure Bromley will employ someone to go through it and identify the owners so that they can be fined - they seem to be quite hot on that.

Re: The 8pm NHS celebration

I'm not really aware of it having become "politicised", whatever that may mean in the context, but have been thinking for some weeks that we would need an exit strategy for getting out of it.

Local public transport and face coverings

I got on a 227 bus earlier today: we ended up with perhaps 15 people on the bus, and maybe only 1/5 of those actually wearing face coverings of any sort. To add insult to injury, they weren't optimally spread out, either, which made social distancing of any sort very difficult. Based on my observati...

Re: Social distancing on the High Road

Unless you provide the right infrastructure and good guidance it is very unfair to criticise individuals for non compliance with the rules. The guidance is there: "stay 2 metres apart from other people" - difficult to believe the message hasn't got through after a couple of months, given that it se...

Re: Social distancing on the High Road

On the bus today - although admittedly in Penge - a woman standing in the set of 2 seats to the immediate left of the former "exit" door and facing rearwards , thereby allowing her to breathe on everyone leaving or entering the bus. Really nice :( Not to mention that she was totally preventing anyon...

Re: Social distancing on the High Road

I have to correct myself: the "stupid people" all seemed to have transferred to Penge, and particularly to Lidl, today. I went in there in an attempt to buy some groceries, and lasted all of a minute or two before I decided that the behaviour of my co-shoppers was far too risky for me to stay there.

Re: Where do people dispose of their lightbulbs?

Only residents of London Borough of Bromley can visit the reuse and recycling centres at Waldo Road and Churchfields Road. Or, more accurately, anyone holding a Borough resident's pass. In my case, I think mine was issued in about 2000 and hasn't been updated since, so if I'd moved out of the Borou...
