Re: Replacing windows

Assuming you have a Victorian/Edwardian property or similar, I'd certainly recommend sticking with sashes (at least where they can be seen - I'll admit we didn't put one in the bathroom) for authenticity - some of the alternatives can look downright weird, especially when open. And I agree with Mike...

We had flyers delivered today, so I guess it's either open or will be shortly - I didn't bother actually reading it :)

Re: Bell Green Proposals

Two things occur to me: - what Bakerloo extension? The one we're not getting? Or have the powers that be changed their minds again? - I thought the whole site was contaminated and not suitable for residential accommodation, but then I wasn't around here back in the days when it was being constructed...

This sounds to me like something which deserves its own thread, too.

They've sold more? I thought they sold some to a housing association some time ago.

Bromley??? But this is on Mayow Road, a couple of km from the Bromley border!!
Which is why I said I don't know what Lewisham's attitude would be :)

Re: New houses

Is this the site somewhere on the other side from the school which has already been levelled?

I note from the picture that they might well loom over the houses on the side road opposite them: Bromley might find this objectionable, but I don't know about Lewisham.

Re: Allotments Open Day - Honey for sale

Is it National Allotments Weekend, or something? Barnmead allotments, between Kent House and Clock House, are doing something similar on the Saturday.

I thought it already had screens :) But thanks for the information - I was a bit worried it might have closed.

What's happened to the Crooked Billet?

(By the almshouses in Penge). It looked boarded up when I walked past on the opposite side of the road yesterday.

Re: Crystal Palace Park closure

Ugh, it's getting even worse! Earlier it was largely just the bass thud we could hear - now it's all the vocals and everything else as well. 20 hours of this in 36 hours? Too much!

Re: High water pressure?

Not everyone will have to have one: if you have a (converted?) block of 2/3/4 flats with a single shared water main it's unlikely they'll be able to split it to fit your individual water meters.

Re: Crystal Palace Park closure

Should anyone feel the need to, the festival's noise consultants (or whatever they are called) can be reached on 01749 574015, so Bromley's noise department tells me.

Re: Crystal Palace Park closure

Oh good, you mean it'll be over in 10 minutes? We'll be very relieved. I walked from Penge High Street to the station this afternoon, and got a real blast of it. I'm guessing that must be the best part of 3/4 of a mile away as the crow flies? I have a nasty feeling tomorrow's is going to be worse - ...

Just checked: foods-wise, Mamma Dough have limited it very strictly to pizza products, but services-wise they're registered for: "Cafés;Cafeteria services;Catering services;Coffee shop services;Fast food restaurant services;Fast-food restaurants;Food preparation;Mobile restaurant services;Pizza parl...

Re: Mad Dough

I fear they most likely will: similar goods and services, and very similar name. I'd go for them if I were Mama Dough. I don’t get to see any similarities between mamma dough and mad dough, there are many businesses with the trade name “dough” at the end. Similar goods and service? Not at all. Mamm...

Really appalling. But thanks for the reminder: can I borrow some noise-cancelling headphones for the weekend? (Will they be effective enough?!)
