Well done all. This is great and a warning to future developers.

Re: Why high streets die

Bizarre, especially as CCTV doesn't seem to be any assistance in prosecute the street racing prats who are currently putting everyone's lives at risk. Perhaps Lewisham sees them purely for revenue production? The criminals know they’re hard work and too much paperwork but people just trying to do t...

Re: The Monstrosity - ie St Philp Neri school building

My objection to the Boundaries planning application: I object strenuously to this application, which bears no relation to the permitted design. Greatly increased height and bulk; the building now lacks the proportions, articulation and detail of the original. PVC windows set flush, their format, co...

Re: Begging outside Sainsbury's local

Let's hope that the people posting negative stuff about the homeless in our area never find themselves in the same position. If you don't want to give to the homeless then don't, but please don't expect me to demonstrate your lack of empathy with my fellow humans. Hear hear! Too right. I was homele...

Why high streets die

Hi all, I might be missing something but I tried to support a small business by using a red route loading bay which I’ve used in the past with no problems, I got a £130 parking fine via cctv. I distinctly remember when cctv was introduced we were told it would not be used for things like this. I rec...

Red Box Lewisham

Evening all,

I was quite shocked that period poverty exists in Lewisham. This is a good cause, I’m donating.

Wft is wrong with Lewisham Council

So I came home to find two trees hacked to pieces. They look like shit and I doubt they would have done the same to trees in upper Sydenham. Surely a decent tree surgeon isn’t beyond the reach of our council tax payments. Whoever did the job obviously hates trees but was probably cheap. The council ...

Re: Trees in Lewisham

The council has form. The beautiful cherry blossom tree was destroyed by the council and replaced by three saplings. It was at least 20 years old and it was removed without consultation. The poor end of the borough get the rough treatment from (new) labour. https://sydenham.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.ph...

Re: sticky:RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

Hello just a quick update on Nandos. I have been told by their Head of Acquisitons that the landlord has completed all their works and that Nandos have commenced their fit out. They anticipate that their fit out will take about 3 months, so with a fair wind I would say that it should be open by the...

Re: The Monstrosity - ie St Philp Neri school building

Updates: sorry for the delay, but I was giving people the time to announce their positions on this topic. After 3 weeks, I have decided I can't wait any longer, as time is pressing. The meeting with the Syd Soc committee went well, and they agreed to take action, starting with getting the issue for...

Re: Sainsbury's news

Somewhere in the third world? Do you want to elaborate on that. This is precisely the sort of thing I mean, and this state goes further than just Larkbere Road In the absence of any further news or hope on this, I've decided to share a few pictures taken over the course of the last year. If a pictu...

Re: The Monstrosity - ie St Philp Neri school building

... Ok let’s agree to disagree and focus on how the monstrosity will be improved. Do you have any suggestions? What exactly are the planning breaches Syd as you seem to be on top of this? You and JRW have studied the drawings, yes, but to me they're unavailable so I'm going on what's being said her...

Re: The Monstrosity - ie St Philp Neri school building

...[clip]... Shall we not do whataboutery and focus on the subject? I think it's relevant and you said you were shocked it received planning approval, so a valid question as to why cladding was approved if it was since it was rejected for a building up the road (goose and gander) bearing in mind so...

Re: The Monstrosity - ie St Philp Neri school building

JRW: May I ask: What do you see as the best outcome to be achieved? Is it recognition so that planning disregard won't happen in future, or something more tangible like somehow now amending the existing roof and/or cladding? Just out of interest, Zanara Court's original plans showed cladding on the...

Re: The Monstrosity - ie St Philp Neri school building

I can totally appreciate that my wording may worry people. I say what I do not as an expert, but as someone who has read all the documents, and been astonished how many times warnings from Planning have been ignored with impunity. I believe that the law has been broken, and am saying it publicly, b...

Re: The Monstrosity - ie St Philp Neri school building

conservation I am completely with Julia here. At a quick glance you might think the completed building looks the same but the devils in the detail. The roof line of the main block is different making the completed building now seem too bulky. The small brick built part had roof lights and a green r...

Re: The Monstrosity - ie St Philp Neri school building

Think I am missing something. The top picture is Phase 1 and completed. The bottom picture is Phase 1 and Phase 2. The building to the left in the second (drawing) photo is Phase 2 has not been built yet. What am I missing? Phase 1 does not look much different than the drawing. It looks cheap and n...
