It was PAs Tubby, but a great night nonetheless. Lovely vibe with a really diverse audience.

Aswad at the Tudor Livesey Hall Tonight

Really looking forward to this gig tonight, with Carol Thompson and Janet Kay in support. Is a good venue in my opinion and it would be nice if further gigs with this calibre of acts were put on there. Hope it is a success but am worried about the lack of local publicity (nothing about it on here, f...

Re: Car Tyres

Agree with Pat, Toyo Tyres on Adamsdril Road. Consistently best price, very good service and wont try and sell tyres you don't need (a trick that Kwik Fit are always trying on). They also dispose of their old tyres responsibly, which cant be said of all Sydenham's tyre suppliers. Avoid Sydenham Tyre...

Re: Demolition of Sydenham Rd between Kent Hse and Knighton

To fair Lee, the Hexagon building was a great improvement on what was there before. I've always had a soft spot for it.
The plans would appear to include building over the window on the upstairs of the Lovely Gallery.
I see the Lowcost supermarket has now closed.

Re: Demolition of Sydenham Rd between Kent Hse and Knighton

I received the leaflet also. It is only the building that houses Solo Education and the Lowcost shop, wrapping around to KPR as far as the first houses on the odd numbered side. Personally, I'm quite relaxed at about it present. But them I live further up the road and am unlikely to be affected.

Regarding the Sports Academy at 18 Sydenham Road; I note that they are now offering a money transfer service. Surely that is A2 (financial services) but the premises is D4.

Re: Puzzling aspects of the high street

I was hoping to open a retail offer last year and did a lot of research, projections etc and I found the largest obstacle was rents. I did find somewhere that would have been economically viable with a great location but the terms were frankly absurd and it led to me to believe that the agent didn't...

Re: Sydenham road traffic seems permanently at a standstill!

Yes it is NEW! and it is down to the phasing, or lack of it, on the temporary lights at the Kent House Road junction. I first noticed a build up of traffic coming from Bell Green past the library on Sunday when going in the opposite direction. I then drove to Sainsbury's on Monday night and found it...

Mayo Road accident this morning

While rushing to the station this morning I saw six ambulances, two police cars and Bus at the junction of Mayo and Sydenham Roads. Does anyone know what happened please? No mention of it in any media. As an aside; it got me thinking of that serious accident involving a cycle some while ago. I was w...

Re: Front door- Where to buy?

I would not recommend the place Stuart mentions. I bought an internal door from them a few years ago and I still think I was conned. Fitter was useless as well. I got my front door from Dawes for Doors which is now http://www.distinguishdoors.co/. and very nice is it is too. People who fitted it wer...

Ted Johnson of Knighton Park Road is recommended by myself and several others. His number is 0755 750 7554. Tell him his neighbour Simon recommended him.

Re: SYDENHAM'S POCKET PARKS

I have to say I think there is a design fault with the way the Venner and Queensthorpe squares are laid out, regarding performing arts. The trees, lights and benches are great when the squares are empty, but you could not have a significant performance as they would all get in the way. Not really th...

Has a very large garden for the street though, but agree; 660 is a bit toppy.

Re: Crystal Palace Park Project: drop-in sessions this Satur

I've noticed the picture used cuts off a large part of the park, where currently there is a large flat grassed area. Perhaps they plan to turn that into a dirty great park, appeasing Sid and local residents.

I saw it tonight and initially thought it had been left up too long. But I then realised how good it looked where it was and thought it would be great if it was left there to grow over the coming years. Sadly it appears the council haven't got around to taking it away. Wouldn't it be great if we had...
