Re: New Aldi approved in Bell Green

The mural unfortunately ultimately petered out due to the “conservation area” which the station approach resides in. The council were shown the designs submitted for the vote and said they didn’t want any of them really and that it didn’t keep with the “conservation area”. As a result it was very mu...

Re: New Aldi approved in Bell Green

Just to give another example: The Nando’s - Great addition to the area in place of a large empty shop. Great addition in terms of a different dining experience (not too similar to anything else in Sydenham) catering for different people - I.e: family dining, teenagers or younger people which Sydenha...

Re: New Aldi approved in Bell Green

This may be me speaking outside of my typical middle ground but to quote Graham Taylor for any football fans I would absolutely love it if people thought about the whole community rather than what would benefit them or fit into their personal wants. It’s clear as day that no matter how many signatur...

Re: Cobbs corner

Any word on this? Just being a bit nosy really and wondering although the application to change use was approved whether the space will be changed/used rather than empty at some point in the near future?!

Looks like it’s getting very close to opening from working past it a few times at the weekend - just thought would let people know might be worth giving the new kid on the block a try/showing a new opening some love! :)

Re: Zanara court commercial space

Just for your information the studio is hoping to be up and running in the new year should all run smoothly. They are not currently selling memberships / class passes for the Sydenham allocation but are hoping to from January when they will have a better idea of opening date!

Re: Sydenham Assembly 1 December 2018

Be interesting to know what constitutes “living in Sydenham” as I haven’t received anything through the letter box (and didn’t previously when there was an important local event to be publicised by the council/Sydenham Society). I’m SE26 but literally about 50 paces over the Lewisham boundary into B...

Absolutely brilliant. I emailed them a few weeks ago actually asking for an update! Fingers crossed it all gets kitted out and up and running relatively quickly but more important successfully!!!

Re: Lewisham nighttime economy consultation - have your say!

Indeed monkeyarms - with mamma dough due to open and Nando’s being unsurprisingly successful I think there is definitely gaps for further evening venues to benefit all. Off top of my head I think another family friendly dinner spot or higher end or niche dinner venue (like if on hoof did evenings or...

Lewisham nighttime economy consultation - have your say!!

Copied from a post from Councillor Liam Curran: Fun, culture and enjoyment in the evening are all part of what makes an area a great place to live in and I love seeing the growth of good venues and things to do in Sydenham of a night-time. The resurrection of the lively landmark Greyhound Pub at Cob...

I’m pretty sure it’s £15 on the button and definitely worth it - especially as I’ve been lucky enough to get a quick beard trim/tidy-up at the same time.

Re: New Barber - Recommendation!

Just went back for my second cut and every bit as good as the first - lots of time and effort goes into every cut and Paris is clearly not only very good at his job but a bit of a perfectionist to boot.

Fantastic barbers and definitely worth your money and time :)

Re: New plans for Calabash of Culture site

Just had a nosy and couldn’t see anything from August, September or October on Sydenham applications either validated or decided (the two search options) during those times. Unless I’ve been very silly I would assume that means there is not an application from Dallas (or other) and the note was from...

Re: New plans for Calabash of Culture site

Generally speaking you need to have the case number and can comment online (which doesn’t seem to register or let you know much!) and/or email direct to planning@lewisham.co.uk with your address and name to show residency. I think doing both when needed is prob best/safest whether positively or nega...

Re: Sydenham Market

Obviously love this idea/plan. Think however it needs to be realistic. Anything indoor (excellent idea!) I feel would have to be something appropriate for the size/feel of the market - reflecting something like the Penge tout pop up which had a 1 year rental of a shop with a number of textile/art/gi...

Commercial unit for let

Just thought I’d flag up the small unit for let by Network Rail (I believe) at Penge East station on the Newlands Park side. Presumably a former ticket office/storage space and more recently a relatively short lived coffee shop. As mentioned in another thread, the detached building on Venner just of...
