Re: Prospect Place, Wells Road
I think any old photos on the forum are appreciated - sounds interesting. If you wanted prints of some of the photos already on here I suppose you could save the images and then get them printed off - anyone have a better idea?

The original story was in the Sunday Times - I couldn't find a link to the story as the paywall is now in force. However, it was also picked up in the Sunday Telegraph (separately from today's Boris column) and there is a lengthy discussion (I've only read the first page of four) on the East Dulwich...

I think TDA might have a point in that if you do have a complaint then you should first speak direct to the manager. Then again, the Dolphin is a treasured part of our high street, and so it's hardly surprising that people will want to discuss it on this site. There are also many pub/ restaurant rev...

Thanks for the links Lee (and Steve for the photos). I understand that Forest Hill station was damaged by war-time bombing, but was only knocked down and replaced by the current building some time afterwards - would that have been in the late '60s/ early '70s? How bad was the damage? It does look li...

New bus shelters
New bus shelters have appeared in Sydenham and surrounding areas, which actually look quite nice. However, I noticed that the one by Lammas Green estate on Sydenham Hill, as well as its counterpart on the other side of the street have "Sydneham" on their signage. I didn't have my camera on...

I have now heard back from Southeastern and basically they are blaming this on a shortage of rolling stock. I have pasted the blather from their reply below if anyone is interested. I am sorry that you have experienced an uncomfortable journey because your train has been formed by fewer carriages th...

Steve Grindlay talk
The Sydenham Society have arranged for a talk by local historian Steve Grindlay - I hope he won't mind me giving this a quick plug here. I gather that this is largely similar to that given at last year's arts festival, so if you couldn't make it then, well worth coming along if you have an interest ...

Getting into Victoria from Sydenham Hill turned out to harder than I thought. The 8.17 turned up 10 minutes late but was already overcrowded so that not everyone on the platform could get on, and when the 8.29 arrived several minutes late that too could not let on all those who waited. Plenty of tra...

The new timetable (from 13 December) for Sydenham Hill - Victoria offered an increase (not huge but welcome) in the number of trains, but the number of carriages on all morning peak hour services has been cut from 8 to 6. Having had hardly any overcrowding, my experience (using either the 8.03, 8.17...
