Re: Local announcements with political message

I find it astonishing that vbsydenham has not been sanctioned given the horrible tone of their recent posts. The conclusion we have all come to is that it is a duplicate account belonging to The Management. Prove us wrong by cancelling vb's account. I'm not holding my breath though.

Re: sticky:Mural?

Given that this huge new tag on the Property World building has appeared, why don't we combine and insist that this is the best, most visible, and most iconic site for the Network Rail mural. If we say that's where we want it, let Network Rail explain if it is impossible. I know that they don't own ...

Re: Old, very heavy, wall mirrors vs plasterboard wall

You might be able to find a metal radiator mounting bracket or right- angled metal something, with a thin profile. Screw one side to the wall, and the other side can support the mirror, with the screws etc hidden behind the mirror. HiYou could paint it to camouflage, copying the underside of the mir...

Yup. Cutting equipment taking down the gasholders, used in an unsafe manner. By SGN. Sigh.

Re: Fire at Gas-holder Site

Kent 999s @Kent_999s BROMLEY update: Fire possibly broke out at the old gas works, between Homesdale Road and Liddon Road, during demolition work in which oxyacetylene cutting equipment was being used. Some nearby homes are believed to have been evacuated. 12:17 PM - Oct 24, 2018 So, it got dangerou...

Re: Old, very heavy, wall mirrors vs plasterboard wall

Difficult one, but you need to attach a batten or a bracket to the wall, which the mirror can sit on and will bear its weight. A wooden batten will allow you to put screws into each timber, and help spread the load. Then, the mirror plates are just to secure it's position, not bearing all the weight...

Re: LEWISHAM COUNCIL PLANNING ENFORCEMENT DESPAIR

Hi Lord Summerisle, I was horrified to see your current living conditions, and.the way the shopowner is carrying on digging regardless of the law. Are the councillors being helpful? Ditto planning? Let us all know if you need help with anything, as we simply cannot allow this kind of thing to be tol...

The old carriage house would make a brilliant cycle repair shop; close to the station, so convenient for commuters?

Re: Sydenham Market

It would be a good use of an empty shop - Safeway's springs to mind..... Or better still, the kfh estate agents that still hasn't moved in at Cobb's corner. Undercover, it would be able to keep going in winter, which is important in building up regular trade. Can the council encourage such businesse...

Re: Hillcrest Estate development

The SydSoc are continuing to plug away at getting the Willow Way site developed for housing. This has the potential to house far more families than the Hillcrest plan, with much better transport links, and right next door to shops, schools and doctors. Goodness knows why the council didn't do anythi...

Re: Hillcrest Estate development

The point is, the London Wildlife Trust saw that the losses were not all set out in the application, and would have been unacceptable. I don't suppose they were impressed at being represented as part of the plan either! The Woodland trust agreed Hillcrest was ancient woodland, and therefore legally ...

Re: Hillcrest Estate development

Do you sincerely believe the Council and Lewisham Homes would have withdrawn a plan they had already spent massively on, unless there were real issues with it? The low key announcement is a sensible way of not stirring up press interest. As I have mentioned many times, happy to show you the evidence...

Castlemore (Sydenham) was compulsorily liquidated between 2009 and 2015, at the request of their creditor, British Gas. Castleford Securities went into administration in 2009 and commenced liquidation in March this year. They owe money to every bank going - mortgages taken against one property to le...

The emojis on this site are so small and uninspired, I can't be bothered. Anyway, how on earth do you cope with reading the newspapers if you need a klaxon to tell you someone is joking?
