I notice Wooster & Stock have moved out of the Woodman on Kirkdale and gone to Nunhead. Bad news for the Kirkdale Village idea and the flourishing of this strip of shops. Does anyone know why they left or what might be coming in? The building could house a restaurant or a fair-sized shop.

Why does no one start a traders' association or join with the Forest Hill one?

I doubt the Windmill is really under offer. The sign has been up saying so for more than a year with no change or movement visible. It would be good if something came of it. Rachael makes an excellent point about the Overground. The further out you are, the easier to get a seat in the morning. Forest Hill is doable some of the time. Sydenham is better. It depends where you are in Sydenham or Forest Hill. We live off of Kirkdale and I believe that is considered to be Sydenham, though in Forest Hill ward. We have shopped around extensively since arriving in the area a year ago and have found Chi Oriental in Crystal Palace to be by far the best. Their spicy aubergine in black bean sauce is to die for. It is a bit uneven between different dishes but the best are excellent.

Numidie is a terrific couscous restaurant in the Triangle.
