Ditchling is after dawn. This is the view looking back from the top last year. Really, really eerie. Its nice too clapping people as they, mostly, get to the top.

Re: Keen cycle nuts in Sydenham ?

Weather is looking a little dodgy for Sunday. Hope you enjoy it. If you do you may enjoy the 'Genteel' ride next month even more. Starts midnight from Hyde Park Corner getting into Brighton for a hearty breakfast after a 3am feast half way. Ditchling too! I'm going via the 22:28 from Sydenham via Vi...

Re: Cycling partner needed

We do a ride every Sunday @ 9am into the delightful Kent or Surrey countryside. We stop for tea about 11am. Half the group turn home from there making about 30 miles. Some go on to a pub for lunch giving a longer 50/60 mile option. We go slow and don't leave anybody behind. If its boy racers try Dul...

Ocelot Gymkhana: The Review

http://sydenham.org.uk/stf_51.jpg A wonderful night in Forest Hill. Not often you write that. However, I was invited along to see the Brothers Kaufman final part of their Ocelot Trilogy at The Hob. For those not completely up to speed the Kaufmans are responsible for the annual extravaganza in the ...

Re: Planning permission required - doing up a flat?

First step might be to check out whether your leasehold agreement and/or deeds allow it. Otherwise the freeholder/managing agents can insist you re-instate at your own cost. Removing walls is likely to be noticed by the people living below you. If they are not on board you may have problems. Provide...

Anything is better than 'Dulwich Borders'. Creating your own glory rather than basking in someone elses' is always welcome. You will never please everyone (don't I know!) but just getting some help create and enjoy a better environment is most welcome. And unjust criticism usually provokes even grea...

Be careful what you say. We are not testosterone loaded riders and include a few number of ladies so don't turn up up in anything like this (NSFW):

May Day Anerley to Brighton Bicycle Ride

Not quite as well known as the London to Brighton but much nicer and smaller (probably a dozen or so of us) ... you are very welcome to join us for a paddle and an ice cream. We come back by train. We go real slow and take in as many cafe's and cake as our stomachs will take. But it is an excellent ...

Thankfully, it's only a very cheap bog-standard Nokia, but if anyone's found it I'd really appreciate its return. If not it shouldn't be too painful. Most operators will send a replacement SIM in a couple of working days and you can get a brand new phone for very little using this great site: http:...

This is the website for the new bidders http://www.wethink.me.uk/ , A bit worrying the website makes no attempt to fulfil its basic legal requirements - that is who operates it, address and other contact details. The only possible downside is that if you live in the parish of All Saints - as you will if you're at the Sydenham Road end of Newlands Park, then you parish may have just gone over to Rome, since it used to be part of 'Forward in Faith' I think you will find it is the congregation and priest who h...

If you want to get some early practice in - the first FNRttC (Friday Night Ride to the Coast) registration is open for the March 18th ride. You start from Hyde Park Corner on the stroke of midnight and plan not to arrive in Southend before the Cafe starts to serve breakfast at 8am. The daring ride b...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?

The new swimming pool isn't under the stadium, it is underground still, but under the former car parking area which will be getting dug up anyway. However it is still a substantial piece of engineering. I believe it was already on the masterplan. .... So when CP say they can build a 25,000 stadium ...
