What's the circumference of Wells Park?
From a jogging point of view it'd be interesting to know what Wells Park's rough circumference distance is, to know how many laps to do. Just wondering if any runners out there had ever noticed, by using an app say. I'm totally app-illiterate. Incidentally Wells Park this morning felt like a much mo...
Re: Masks
We're not going out that much but when we do we're putting our masks on when we're out on the high street and also inside shops. Taking them off when we get to to Mayow Park, seems silly given the amount of space between everyone.

Re: Social distancing on the High Road
Social distancing has suddenly got a lot harder again I find. The high st and mayow park both pretty busy.
Re: Masks
It’s crazy that more people aren’t wearing facial barriers. There are so many more people out and about now- clearly the combination of Johnson’s recent statements and good weather are having an effect. Lots of people clearly breaking rules and hanging out with their mates. All the more reason to we...

Re: Social distancing on the High Road
This is why masks are important. In life there will inevitably be moments in which you are less than 2m distance from someone. A facial barrier reduces risk of transmission; and to a lesser extent reduces risk of reception. Ergo if two people are wearing a facial barrier and pass at, say 1m or 0.5m ...
What’s urgent about it? Why do you care what happens to the world in thousands of years time over something awful that could spell the end of humanity now?
For one thing it's not an either/or. Nobody is suggesting that addressing climate change is somehow done at the expense of, or...

Re: Social distancing on the High Road
It's busier nearer Tescos. Partly because there are two chemists there (hence queues), right by bus stops (a few stationary people waiting for bus) and individual smaller shops (hence other queues). Further down towards Bell Green it's much more sparse, as is the Cobbs Corner end.

Village Food Market
Popped into Village Food Market today for the first time. It has a surprising amount and range of fresh fruit and vegetables; perhaps even more than they are likely to turn over. Worth investigating. I was one of two customers inside at 11 on a Sunday morning.

Where do people dispose of their lightbulbs?
The only local place I'm aware of is Churchfields Rd recycling centre in Penge. Is that really literally the only place anyone can dispose of lightbulbs? Where do other people put theirs?
Any local shops? I know Sainsbury's do batteries, but pretty sure they don't do lightbulbs.

Re: Coop Forest Hill
Do you mean Stanstead Road? Towards Catford - the former Maplin building by the garden centre?
There was a planning application in 2018 to convert the other co-op in Forest Hill (Waldram Park Road) into a hotel. Could be that Co-Op are relocating.

Re: Sydenham Man Loses £250,000 Violin
I know this is a deeply uncharitable thing to say but... I can't understand why he was taking it on the train anyway without, say, handcuffing himself to it. I mean, I don't take my treasured mahogany acoustic guitar (which "only" cost me £350) outside much as it is very easily marked; I h...

Re: What’s going on at x?
If so that would be a big shame. I think it's a pity there isn't more communication between business owners and their customers - especially if things aren't going well. A lot of parents with young kids really appreciate Cherry & Ice being there, and if they realised it really was a case of 'use...

Re: Old Co-Op and circus posters
I'd wondered about this too. But I'm pretty sure I've seen similar things in other unoccupied shopfronts. Am I imagining it or were there also posters up for a circus or something similar in the vacant Calabash of Culture?

Impressed that they do three different vegan pizzas. They should make more of this info as a business, people will travel a bit further for this stuff: https://static.wixstatic.com/ugd/f515ca ... 2aa224.pdf

Re: Replacing windows
If you can, go for the solution with the best energy performance (eg triple glazing, which, confusingly doesn't always literally refer to triple glazing so much as the best performance, I understand). It will cost more but it should hopefully make your heating bills less. And give you a warm self-ri...

Re: What's happened to the Crooked Billet?
The grey exterior of the Pawleyne Arms refurb is an improvement, and a perfectly standard bit of functional design. But every time I look at its terrible signage I wonder what was going through the person's head: it's like someone sat down and asked themselves "hmmm, how can we find a combinati...

Re: Earlesthorpe/Thorpes - schools help please!
I don't think the religious schools come up on the catchment map? Anyway, St Barts is a good school and I imagine you would geographically have a good chance of getting a place there.
I liked Adamsrill when I went to the open day there and friends with kids there are very happy with it.

According to the Folk London website there is a bluegrass night, first Monday of the month, at the Golden Lion. Suppose this must be fairly new, might pop along with my fiddle and banjo...
